So tonight I helped with Sherwood Volley and had a great time! We worked on so much and I can see so much improvement in these players! 💚🏐

However, the purpose of this post is because I wanted to share how even coaching for over 13yrs (littles to seniors) I learned something new. (Would just like to say where I came from these other sports were not big when I was growing up or coaching)

So, a parent and I was talking and he said he wanted to ask me something I was showing the players last time I was there. It was about serving. Let me tell y’all I know my stuff when it comes to fundamentals. I spent a LONG time coaching super young kids. Well, this Dad said, “when you talk about the girls following through on their serves why is the right leg (she was right handed) staying behind if I said follow through.” I was a little confused because I thought it was clear. I always tell them to follow through and it’s like throwing a baseball. WELL…… apparently in baseball and softball “follow through” means the right leg moves (or left if they are left handed). 😂 This is one why I was never good at that sport and two can’t throw the balls right. 🤣😂🤣

I appreciated him asking me and explaining why that may not make sense to players who play baseball or softball. Now I honestly know little to nothing about those sports I just know that when the ball is thrown the opposite leg to the throwing arm is forward. (Or at least I thought it was 😆) So with that being said in volleyball “follow through” on a serving means the leg with the contact hand stays back.

Please if you are helping younger players work on their serves, PLEASE make sure their contact hand is opposite from their step foot! Also, explain what “follow through” means in volleyball! ❤️🏐💙

Tonight was a VERY successful night of training! We had a lot of new faces in the gym tonight! It felt so good getting back in the gym! 🏐😍🏐

14 players got gym time tonight and a lot of touches! We worked a lot on A LOT of ball control and mindsets! One thing I tell all my players (coaching and training) is that you have to be able to control the ball and be in the right mindset. These are the little things that a lot of players (and coaches) over look in trainings/practices!

In 14 yrs of coaching I have seen how a shift has been made from truly training (the little things) to players just wanting to “hit” the ball.

Hardwork has to be put into the fundamentals to become a better player!

I am here to start changing this mindset with players! 🩵🏐

Some people may think how I train is too “basic” but I will disagree because the basics (little things) are the MOST important part to being a better player!

I will be at Arkansas Volleyball Academy’s clinic on Friday (8/2) in Cabot, message me for more information! 💙🏐❤️

Lady Mustangs team camp! We worked on fundamentals, game play, self discipline, ball control, teamwork, and so much more. I am extremely proud of each one of them. Each girl grew so much in the last four days. 💛🏐🩵

Thank you Scott Charter and the Volleyball Program for trusting us to come in and help the program.

Thank you Coach Walters and Coach T for sharing your girls with me. I have been so blessed to get to know each girl and the two of y’all! I can’t wait to watch your team continue to grow this season and in the future! 🏐💛🏐

Good luck this season Lady Mustangs!!!! 🥰

One thing I absolutely love is going to coaching clinics and learning more! I have been coaching for over 13 years but I am always trying to learn more. I never want to be the best coach ever, I always want to be working to be better!

Today I had to pleasure to attend one with Coach Mac (Heah Coach) for Missouri State. This is my second time meeting him and he is one of my favorite coaches. I always end up with a pages of notes. Today was no different!

Thank you AVA for pouring into each of us coaches and getting us training. Huge thank you to Coach Mac for giving us some of your knowledge to help us all be better coaches!! ♥️🏐♥️
