A U.S. Marine 2nd LT said this during his service in Vietnam: "Courage is endurance for one moment more." What you’re experiencing and feeling may be more difficult than you could've ever imagined, Hold on…for one moment more.

Today is Ash Wednesday, the day that begins the season of Lent for Christians. Observers attend services where ashes are placed on their foreheads, a solemn reminder of human mortality and the call to repentance: “For dust you are and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19).

The day sets the tone for the 40-day journey of reflection, fasting, and prayer that follows, helping turn hearts toward God and prepare for the hope of Easter. Wishing all who observe a reflective Ash Wednesday.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch will name Timothy Cardinal Dolan and Reverend A.R. Bernard as co-chief chaplains of the chaplains unit on Tuesday, February 10.

“Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Reverend A.R. Bernard are two of the most righteous people this City has ever known,” Tisch said in a statement. “They are two men of incredible faith whose lives and leadership embody the moral clarity, compassion, and wisdom our officers rely on in their hardest moments.”
