WHAT AN AWESOME DAY

The 5th Annual Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC Classic took place this past Saturday (August 31) at The Byesville Village Park. There was 42 players who competed in the event across four divisions, coming from multiple states and all across Ohio.

In MA-1, Trevor McFadden won the title for the third time in five years by breaking his tournament record by one stroke by shooting -31 over the two rounds (48 holes). In MA-2, Derek McAfee fired a -22 to take the trophy. In MA-3, young Jeriah Raber shot a -15 to earn the title. In MA-4, Zackri Groves shot a -10 to notch the victory.

We'd like to thank Conn's Potato Chips for their generous sponsorship as each player received a bag of potato chips and a beef stick as part of their Player's Pack. Also, a huge thank you to Wal-Mart and Daniel Walker for donating 5 cases of water for the players. Once again, the T-shirts for the classic were amazing and done by Lee's Tees. We also appreciate the work The Trophy Case does on the trophies as they are always top notch. And we had a special surprise for the Player's Pack as each golfer received a pin of the Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC logo, courtesy of Disc Golf Pins.

A big thank you to the tournament staff - Tournament Director Heath Dawson, Assistant Tournament Director Ricky Haught, and Tacy Bates, who does an incredible job checking in the players and making sure they're taking care of when they arrive. The staff worked hard preparing the course and during the event to make sure it ran smoothly. We also wanna give a big shout out to Park Liaison Michael Port who mowed the park and had the grounds looking amazing.

Last but not least, thank you to all of the players for supporting the event, those who were back once again and to players who were first-timers at the event. We are beyond thankful and can't wait for 2025 (August 30)!!!

WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!!

We want to thank everyone who came out today to support the 4th annual Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC Classic at The Byesville Village Park. We had 45 players come from all over Ohio to compete today. It was so much fun watching players throw The Island Hole on No. 4.

We want to congratulate TEAM Disc Asylum member Trevor McFadden who threw a course tournament record in Round 1 for a blazing 1011 rated round. He staved off a late charge from 2022 MA-1 JBM Champ Brent Rosen to shoot a tourney best -30. In MA-2, Ricky Cox and Chris Kohler battled back-and-forth once again all day, with 2021 MA-2 Champ Ricky Cox pulling out his second event win. In MA-3, David Thornton followed in his brother Michael's footsteps from last year by taking down MA-3. Someone will have to keep the MA-3 crown out of the Thornton's grips next year...lol. In MA-4, Matthew Engstrom fired the hot round at -5 in Round 2 to take down the division.

I want to thank Tournament Staff members and Assistant Tournament Directors Ricky Haught and Lee Campbell, along with Tournament Assistant Tacy Bates. The staff at the JBM Classic is second to none in my opinion. The event wouldn't be possible without y'all.

It's been a great year at JBM and we're excited to hopefully finally get the three turf pads installed permanently and get new tee signs for 2024.

Thanks again for supporting the event and Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC and The Village of Byesville. It means a lot to myself, the park department, and our local disc golf community.

REGISTRATION OPENS TOMORROW

The 4th annual Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC Classic registration opens tomorrow at 7 p.m. Set a calendar reminder so you don't miss out. It has sold out each year and we expect it to once again. The classic takes place this year on Saturday, October 21 and is a PDGA-sanctioned C-Tier. Registration cost is $45.

ACE POT HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN

After three-plus years of our ace pot growing at the Jonathan Bye Memorial DGC Thursday Night League, Trevor McFadden did what seemed like was impossible and aced his last throw of his round ... No. 9. The pot had swelled to $359.
