Joey and Henry getting some lunges in at the end of a training session. Regular lunges were too easy so we changed it up.

Matthew hustling through a change of direction drill last spring. I was timing these filmed reps, so that last backwards run was a doosy.

We through strength and conditioning. We don't claim to anyone. Our program is simple and probably boring at times to our athletes, but its obviously because a number of them have been with us for years. They show up every session, do the work, and it translates over to sport. Excelling athletes. Happy parents.

🤕 NEW BLOG: HOW THE "KNEES OUT" CUE CAUSED YOUR KNEE PAIN

Catch alls "Knees Out!" or "NO knees over toes" are overused, outdated, and can be outright disastrous for performance in the wrong hands. Blocking knees from crossing the toes decreases knee stress by 22%. BUT it increased forces in the hips and low back by 1070%! Well intentioned, but making the knee weaker. All while eliminating the role of the foot and ankle, omitting any possibility of a relationship between the foot, ankle, and knee for you know, normal human movement patterns.

In his latest article on knee pain and function, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Block One Coach, Dr. Matt Zanis [] shows you that a safe knee is one that can move freely in accordance with the foot and ankle.
DO NOT miss the blog if you're a coach! Awareness of the relationship between the hip, knee, foot, and ankle leads to an improvement in performance, return to play, and most importantly, moving pain free.

DID YOU KNOW?

That if you or your athletes are sh*tty Olympic lifters, the sn**ch and clean wont apply the stress needed to drive an effective training response?

Should you toss out the Olympic lifts in your training program? Hell naw! It just means you've got some pondering to do, Coach!

Do you spend the time to teach your athletes to become proficient OLY lifters like the athlete above?

Or do you open the tool box and throw in less complex movements that can drive the same training response?

Just a few examples of what you'll find in our programs:
Clean/Sn**ch Pulls
Power Clean/Sn**ch
Compensatory Acceleration Training aka CAT
Single Arm DB Sn**ch
Reverse Ball Toss
Sandbag Cleans
Med Ball Circuits
Sprinting

Do you LOVE Oly lifts and follow Field Strong, Grindstone, Jacked Street, or one of our other epic programs? Well, you wont see a ton of Oly work in our programs for this very reason.

But if you're longing for the Oly lifts, you can always add them in on your program's pull days. Just be smart!

So what do you do, Coach? Are you relying on the Oly Lifts for your power movements? Or do you use other simpler movements?

Now you know.

"Necessity is the mother of invention" I didnt need another project, but now my youth athletes can drill correctly racking and unracking a barbell. Plus, I no longer have to be the human monolift. @ The Pit Fitness, LLC
