What. A. Day.
We expected to have our new air conditioning ready to go by 5:00 for Tiger testing. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always get on board with the plans you make, and several circumstances made that impossible. Then we were REALLY hoping to be ready for 6:30 MAK testing…well, you can see how that went. At 6:10pm, we made the call to have Engage’s first ever outdoor testing!
This is where the shout outs begin. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing community. To staff members Ms. Fleming, Mr. Christie, and Ms. Windon, who jumped in immediately to do whatever needed done. To Mrs. Vicki Windon, who jumped in to help us dig through the trash to find an HVAC part that was mistakenly thrown away, then continued to help with anything and everything that needed done.
To all of the parents who showed up amidst our chaos, and instead of turning away, immediately started to help carry chairs and equipment to the upper parking lot. I had more students and parents ask “how can we help?” than I knew what to do with.
And in the end, we had a pretty awesome testing. Some of these MAK kids have never tested before, let alone outside, and many have never done their form with shoes on or in a parking lot. Every single one of them (and our make-up Tiger friend!) rose to the challenge and exceled. We are so proud of the way they handled the chaos today, and so proud to call them our students!
Our community is everything, and our community showed up today. We couldn’t have done it without your assistance, flexibility, and patience. We managed to take less-than-ideal circumstances and turn it into something pretty great.
The good news: the air conditioning is DONE! It is running overnight so we will be all ready for testing tomorrow evening!
