Butler Football 2025 Butler Bears Football 2025 Season

08/25/2025

Good evening Bear Football fans - High School had a successful showing at our Jamboree in Holden Friday night. After 2 weeks of good practices, our men got to show their skills against other teams. We started strong against Kipp and then had a very intense period against a good Midway team that showed a lot about our team and our toughness. It was a good showing that told us a lot about our strengths and our areas in which we need improvement. All in all - we came out of it with some valuable experience for a very inexperienced team and also uninjured.
This week is our week 1 game week against a very big, physical team from North Platte. We'll have our hands full and need to be ready, right out of the gate.
We'll practice Monday at 8 am for both Jr. High and High School.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be regular afterschool practices and we'll finish around 515, 530.
Friday is our game at home against North Platte. Hope to see a great crowd cheering on our boys.

Jr. High finished week one and have shown a tremendous amount of skill and physicality. We have some really talented young men and I can't wait to see them in action in a couple of weeks.
This week is the same as the High School - Tomorrow is at 8 at the field house.
The rest of the week - practice will be right after school and we'll finish around 5.
The season is upon us and I can't wait to see how we evolve and improve. We have a chance to be really good at both levels but it means nothing if we don't work hard every chance we get to maximize our potential. That means, getting to practice, focus and working hard to be the best. If we want to be champs - we have to practice like Champions.
Go Bears!!

Good Evening Butler Football Fans -
If you haven't done so already, please sign up for Sports You. The code was/is in last week's post. Most communication and changes in schedules, events, times, etc will be done through the Sports you app. Please get signed up. Your son should also be signed up for HUDL. If they aren't - tell them to talk to Coach Burtch. We also start our fundraiser tomorrow. Please help us out by encouraging your son to get out and sell his cards.

Week one is in the books for this season and I would call it better than average. Our numbers are up and that's encouraging, but we had way too many players miss practice. If you were at our parent meeting, you are well aware of how important I feel practice is. If you aren't there, you don't know what to do and we are not as good as we could be. Parents - please help us make sure your athlete does not miss practice. This team has a chance to be very good. But.... that's only if we get everybody there - everyday. We're already behind because of players who didn't have physicals, missed practices, etc. Very frustrating when I know how good we could be. I realize things come up that are emergencies or unavoidable. I'll say it again - if it isn't an emergency - be at practice.
This week's schedule. High School.
Monday - We'll start at 8 in the weight room. Done by 11. We are starting our fundraising tomorrow after practice. Each player will get 20 cards. We'll be done by 1115ish.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - We start after school, be done around 545 6.
Friday is our Jamboree at Holden, starting at 6. We'll leave at 4. We scrimmage against Midway and Kipp.
Travel Gear Dress will be our Bear Football Shirt and Black Shorts.
Saturday - we'll come in at 8 and take pictures. Team pictures, Saturday at 8.
We'll then watch film of the jamboree - Try to be done by 1030 11 depending on how long pictures take.
Well - we're off and running. Like I said, this team has a very high upside. If we can all get on the same commitment page.
Let's have a great week of practice and be ready for Friday.
Junior High -
Tomorrow - first day of practice. We'll start at 9 at the field house. Done by 1030 11.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after school until 515ish.
Go Bears!!

Football practice is right around the corner. Our schedule for next week is -
Monday the 11th - Start in the weight room at 2. Done around 5 - 530.
Tuesday the 12th - We have PD (Professional Development) - so we'll need to start at 3 in the weight room. Done around 6ish.
Wednesday the 13th - PD - Start at 3 in the weight room - Done around 6ish.
Thursday the 14th - PD - Start at 3 in the weight room - Done around 6ish.
Friday the 15th - No School. Start in the Fieldhouse at 9 am. to 11 - 1130.
Saturday the 16th - 9 to 11.
Monday the 18th - Start of Jr. High
No School - Jr. High will start at the field house at 9. Done by 11. High School - Start in the weight room at 8. Done at 11.
After this - We'll go after school. Jr. High done by 5ish. High School done by 530ish.
Reminder - You have to have a physical to participate. They are good for 2 years. If you didn't get one last year - get one and bring it to registration.
Practice and preparation starts now. Practice is everything to me. The only way we can be ready to play is if we know what we're doing. If you're not at practice - you don't know what you're doing. We need everyone at every practice. It needs to be an emergency to miss. Contact a coach before you miss. No, after the fact - "I was sick excuses".
Sunday night at 530 is Fall Parent night. If you have any questions - ask then or text or call me. 7857646397. We will start using SportsYou as our communication method. We'll explain Sunday or you can respond to my request.
I'm excited about the potential and possibilities of this team. Can't wait to start putting the pieces together.
Spread the word to some who haven't been able to make it this summer. Anybody who may have the slightest interest - I hope will try it. Love to see the growth and maturing that Football or any team sport brings.
Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!! Let's go BEARS!!

07/20/2025

Good evening Butler Football faithful! Creeping ever closer to the 2025 season - and with it, comes more and more excitement for the potential and possibilities of what this team could become. Hopefully we can get more and more players to be a part of it that will help us become the team we know we can be.
Get your physicals turned in as soon as possible and remember - practice starts August 11th for High School - August 18th for Jr. High.
We have two weeks of conditioning left - if possible, get up and make yourself better and that makes our team better.
This week - Same as the others.
Monday thru Thursday we condition from 6 to 8 and then the High School will - If we have enough - practice at 8 until 930ish. on Monday and Wednesday. Jr. High on Tuesday and Thursday.
Let's continue to get better the next two weeks so we can continue the great tradition we've created here.
See you in the morning. Go Bears!!

07/13/2025

Good afternoon Butler Bears.
We are fast approaching the beginning of Fall Sports and that means Football. We've had a decent turnout for summer conditioning and contact days - but would love to get as many players in as possible. I know some of us have other obligations - but all we ask is if you can make it - please do.
Couple of important things - get your physical turned in if you need to and mark August 11th down as the first day of fall sports practice for the high school. August 18th for the Jr. High.
We have teacher/principal obligations starting on the 11th- so specific times will be given later. Just making sure you are aware so you can be there. Remember - you need so many practices in order to play that first game, so don't miss.
This week's events -
Conditioning - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
From 6 AM to 8 AM.
Tomorrow, July 14th and Wednesday the 16th - High School Football Contact days - Tuesday and Thursday - Jr. High Contact days. Both run from 8 to 900/930ish.
Let's keep our numbers up and keep working hard so we're ready to go when the season gets here.
Go Bears!!

Hello Butler Football Community for the 2025 upcoming Jr. High and High School football season. Super excited about the potential and possibility of this group. We are well into our summer conditioning and contact days and have already seen massive improvement and growth.
We obviously lost some very talented and impactful players from last year and will miss them tremendously - but that happens every year. Great tradition overcomes these losses and the players in our program will step up and step in to become those players to carry on the tradition of pride, commitment and effort that continues the positive impact this team will have on our community and school.
As we all know - our numbers have been less than ideal and hopefully - with your help, our numbers will improve and we can have a JV team, depth and positively impact more young men in our community by getting them to be a part of our program.
We've had a nice turnout so far - we just need this to continue and if possible, more players to continuously show up to conditioning and practice.
With July just around the corner - I'll give a quick review of our schedule and a couple of important dates and events.
Tomorrow - June 26th - Weights and Conditioning - 6 to 8 am. Jr. High Football contact day from 8 to 915ish.
Next Week - June 30th to July 4th. Non-Mandatory work outs. BUT... I will open the weight room from 7 to 8 am - Monday & Tuesday for anyone who wants to lift.
July 7th - July 10th
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
Weights & Conditioning - 6 to 8am.
High School FB Contact day - Monday and Wednesday - 8 to 930am-ish.
Jr. High FB Contact day - Tuesday and Thursday - 8 to 915am-ish.

One more thing - We have our Butler Football Store up and taking orders. Please take a look and get your orders in so everyone has there's before the season starts.

The 2024 Butler Football Reception/Banquet will be held Thursday, November 21st. It will be held in the High School Cafeteria at 6 PM.
Everyone is Welcome.
Thanks to all for the support and looking forward to celebrating the 2024 Butler Football season.

11/11/2024

Good evening Butler Football family. Well, this is always the toughest post to write. We knew Pembroke Hill had some very nice players and were well coached - but I really thought we had the kids to compete and a game plan that would allow us to move the ball and make it tough on them to score, which would give us a chance. But when you turn the ball over 5 times - give up a pooch kick for a turnover and then allow a kickoff return for a touchdown - that's a recipe for disaster and that's exactly what Friday night was. We did not bring our A game and we needed to - to even have a chance, and we didn't. It's to bad - because this was not indicative of the kids we have and the way we'd played recently.
So - Another season has ended. I am so proud of the boys who carried on the great tradition of Butler Football. Our 6 Seniors were awesome the whole year and deserve a ton of credit for keeping this team together when things got low and led us the entire year. Some were fighting injuries the whole year and all were a privilege to get to know, coach and go to war with every Friday night. They will be missed.
We will have a banquet to celebrate these players and others and our season - whenever we can figure out an appropriate date. I'll keep you informed as soon as that date is confirmed.
With the end of the season. comes equipment check in. We are asking Jr.'s and Seniors to get theirs turned in on Tuesday and Freshman and Sophomores Wednesday. Please help us out by getting everything washed and folded and placed in their travel bag. It's terrible having to track and bug players who can't remember there helmet or shoulder pads. And they will need to have a coach check them in after school unless they are in a winter sport - and in that case they can bring them to me during Bear Time. But they will not be able to simply say - my stuff is in the fieldhouse. We won't allow that.
Thanks for the help on this. Thank you all for the amazing support and allowing us the opportunity to work with your children. They are a joy to Coach.
Best of Luck to all the players who are playing a winter or spring sport and we'll be following each in their endeavors.
Again - when we figure out when our banquet will be, I'll let you know.
Thanks for the amazing support and as always. Go Bears!!!

Good morning Butler Football - Congratulations to the boys for a great game Friday night. We had a couple of mental mistakes on offensive formations and blocking assignments, but I thought our effort was good. We've gotten so much better and some of our young players have improved so much - it's impressive to see the growth and maturity they've exhibited. Very proud of them. We were good Friday - especially on defense. We were able to control the Line of scrimmage and held there offense in check for a big first round playoff win. Our defensive line of Dylan, Chris, Hunter and Logan Fuller had there best game and allowed our Linebackers and D. Backs to run and make tackles and were able to hold one of the best backs in the area to around 50 yards. Great job by those men.
They'll have to be even better this coming Friday when we meet the 9 and 0 Pembroke Hill team who have been really good all year. They have a couple of really good lineman and some great skill players which will make it very challenging for our defense who has been great the last 5 weeks of the season giving up around 6 points a game.
Our week will be a regular week of practice -
Monday - The teachers have PD, so we'll go at 3 - starting in the weight room. Done around 515.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday will be right after school and we'll finish around 5 - 515.
Friday is game day - round 2 of the playoffs - at Pembroke Hill.
Bus will leave around 315 -330.
We'll need to be at our best and hopefully we'll have a large supporting crowd to push us to a big win.
Thanks to everyone and especially the boys for a great effort Friday and for representing Butler in the best possible way.
Go Bears!!
