Met some babies yesterday. Mom and dad were talking to them… it seems like it was what was supposed to be happening. My kid and I researched their age and everything said leave them alone… not that we could find their nest anyways. This one stared at me for 15 minutes. They look so grumpy. It was a nature filled day with a ton of turtles on the road after our big storms and rabbits and deer. All out after days of rain and even a huge hail storm.

Hi everyone! I am back! I have just taken my first hike of any substance for the first time in over 18 months due to a hip injury. And what did I decide to do? Hike 6 miles straight up Mount Mitchell. It was amazing and epic in so many ways…. I am not going to put them all in one post because there is too much to share. My hip did amazing even though I was backpacking!!! But now I am dealing with Achilles bursitis. Ooops. It’s all a part of the journey and I hope to be back here with more nature and adventures more regularly… but for now stayed tuned for more on this trip!

I swear I haven’t disappeared. My mind has been on the trail a lot even though my body hasn’t. My hip is still a mess from last October. I have been to two chiropractors, three acupuncturists, a Bowen worker and my doctor who is an osteopath who is also perplexed. She found a traumatic injury that had my sacrum in a reverse torsion but fixing that only helped so much. I need X-rays and a specialist and maybe an MRI. I am glad I started acupuncture school since there is no way I would have made my goal of 2023 AT thru. God works in mysterious ways. I have been in a lot of pain but my motivation to get this fixed isn’t that… but to get back on trail. I can’t believe I am staying somewhat sane with acupuncture school while not being able to be on trail. I take small jaunts but it’s not the same. My backpacking gear stares at me every day from across the room. Thank God for my camper van. I love her and she is helping me get through this. I just wanted to say I am still here but still hurting.

I have been off trail for 8 months with a hip injury… but I am still watching nature adventure shows and listening to podcasts and dreaming of getting back on trail as soon as I can!

5 weeks later and she is finally back! Couch surfing was exhausting and I am so glad she is feeling better! Back to van life 3 days a week as I tackle another semester at acupuncture school!! This time I took her to my temple so I could get some prayers and blessings she stays healthy for a while!

And then this happened. Started acting up on the last 25 minutes of my 4 hour drive home from school last night and prayed just to make it home… I did! I paid in spades for that prayer by waiting all day for the promised tow truck…. But it is at the shop and hopefully back by Sunday 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I need some help! Van life has been GREAT but Gas prices have gone WAYYYYYY up and I need to save some money. I have loved being at the campground, and it is really reasonably priced, but every penny pinched during school is needed. Does anyone have a FLAT piece of driveway or parking space that is relatively quiet for me to park on Sunday and Monday nights? I literally need nothing from you but that. All I need is in the van, and I won't bother you (and can't) because I will be in school all day and studying at night. School is near the Columbia/ Laurel area in MD so close to there is fabulous. I have been staying in greenbelt and loving it, but need to start pinching pennies. Message me if you might be able to help! THANKS!
