For those of us interested in a different "arena" to compete in or those of us that compete in triathlons, open water swimming is what it's all about.

Open water is a great way to change it up because there are no walls, no ropes, and a mass group of people all swimming together.

A lot of times we don't feel up to the workout in front of us or aren't feeling prepared for a race. In the back of our minds we are thinking that going to the beach or taking a nap would be a much better use of our time ... at least that what we tell ourselves!

Never overlook the potential of an opportunity though. That could-have-been beach trip may in fact be the time your body is ready for a world record swim.
