Big weekend for the Vũ’s at the USAKS Freestyle State Championships!

Elyse’s dedication shows in the way she consistently puts in the work and embraces every opportunity to improve. Her coachability stands out, she listens, applies feedback immediately, and turns adjustments into results on the mat evident as she stands proudly taking 2nd place.

After an early loss, Tom fought all the way back to take 6th place, and came within seconds of 5th in a competitive 11-10 match. Tom’s progress has been real, highlighted by a 4-point takedown against a 4A folkstyle state champ.

Big credit to alumni Brett Bober for helping coach them through it all.

This was both athletes’ first time competing at Freestyle State, and they represented in a big way.

We are proud of all three of you.

It was great seeing our BHS wrestlers looking sharp and representing at Prom 2026 last night!

From the mat to the dance floor, they continue to show confidence and pride in everything they do.

Great day on the mat at the Crossroads Throwdown in Salina!

Tom battled to a 4th place finish, Garrett earned 3rd, and Elyse brought home the championship with a 1st place finish! 🥇

Elyse competed in the Heartland Duals over the past few days, representing Team Kansas. She had the opportunity to be coached by former Burlington wrestler and current Baker Wildcat Women's Wrestling National Qualifier, Jo Carrasco, and finished the weekend with a strong 5–3 record.
