Hung Kuen Kung Fu “Hung Kuen” Is officially changing to “South Jersey Kung Fu Academy” Iwant to spread the traditional art of Hung Ga kung fu and Hung Sing Choy Lee Fut

Sifu Jess Upton started studying Shaolin Kung Fu in 1998 at age 20 with Sifu Royee Fuller of 5 Elements of Shaolin. He studied various systems such as Wing Chun, Choy Lay Fut and Hung Ga Kung Fu. In 2003 Sifu Jess Upton started training under Sifu Rommie Revell who taught Northern Shaolin, Choy Lay Fut and Hung Ga Kung Fu. In 2010 Sifu Jess Upton was promoted to the rank of Sifu under Sifu Rommie

Revell. Sifu Jess Upton has competed in numerous tournaments throughout the years placing in Forms, Weapons and fighting, Performed Demonstrations at Princeton University along with Dr. John Lee and several other Martial Arts Masters. Competed in Manupstandup underground full contact fighting tournaments in Queens, NY in which one of his fights was aired on The Destination America channel a documentary on “Underground Fight Clubs.”. In 2019 Sifu Jess Upton started training under Sifu Curtis Diaz and has been further studying Hung Ga Kuen, Southern Shaolin Kung Fu and 5 Family 5 Animals Kung Fu. In 2020 Sifu Jess Upton became an inner chamber disciple of Sifu Curtis Diaz and was also inducted into the Philadelphia Historic Martial Arts Society Hall of Honors.

There are many misconceptions about the origin of various „Minor Sets“ of today’s Hung Ga Kyun.
