Established in 2010, Jayavarman Rising was previously known as Angkorian Warriors. It was a group of students that was part of the Cambodian American Student Association of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The group came together with the intent to build a bond and to empower and encourage one another to get involved with the Lowell Southeast Asian Water Festival. The students were motivate

d to preserve the Southeast Asian customs and traditions through boat race competitions that which celebrated water in that region of the globe. Over the years, the team has evolved and transcended beyond just a boat team. Angkorian Warriors is now Jayavarman Rising (Jr) consisting of UMASS Lowell graduates and other professionals from all over the New England area that compete in flag football, volleyball, dragon boat tournaments and other competitions.
