Because of the Supreme Court McCleary decision the legislature put big money in the budget this year to go to school districts. Listen to what legislators say the money is for.

“The Legislature’s intent is to put that money to where the Court said it needs to go and that is salaries.” - Rep. Mike Pellicciotti

Dear B-EEA members,

We bargained yesterday, and felt like an agreement was within reach.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
We are not where we need to be.

This brings your bargaining team to a reset. We are creating a new overall proposal--one that we believe we can bring to you in good faith, that is competitive with neighboring districts, and that continues to support teaching and learning and the professional standing of educators.

The Burlington-Edison Education Association membership approved “No Contract No Work” last spring. Our contract runs through August 31, and we will adhere to its terms.

We sincerely hope we can bring an agreement to the membership that gives us a seamless transition into the 2017-2018 contract year. But we remain committed to our kids and our profession.

It is through the power and resolve of the union that we progressed as much as we have over the past years. That same power and resolve will carry us through this next challenge.

We bargain again in just two days--this Friday. We will bring a proposal that supports our kids, supports our educators, and is fair. We look forward to the challenge.

Your B-EEA Bargaining team,
Cameron Munro
Richard Glick
Amy Caramella
Lynn DenAdel
