Does anyone else have Madonna's "Take a Bow" humming in the back of their mind?
Probably just me...because it's the final day of the Illustrating Leadership Summit!
I took dance lessons from age 3 to 18, and every year at the recital I'd watch the graduating seniors dance to Take a Bow in their formal gowns...and I imagined what I'd look like someday up there.
And when it was my turn, back in May 2004, I donned my sparkly black prom dress that I had made myself and all I could think about was how much I was going to miss this. I didn't feel that way about high school or just about anything else I was saying goodbye to in that season, but it was all I could do to keep the tears in as I gave my final curtsy to my dance teacher- a woman who had guided me through incredible loss in my younger years and taken me in as a mentee.
I'm not wearing a formal gown today. Far from it, actually.
As we hear from Mary Hendra about the power of understanding play as a leadership skill and Joanna Kozlowski who so graciously agreed to interview me...we'll put a beautiful bow on this experience.
But gosh am I going to miss this Illustrating Leadership Summit.
The process of building it with my speakers, my support systems, and then seeing what it was as it came to life makes me overwhelmingly proud.
The good news is that it doesn't have to completely end after this.
You can still sign up through this weekend and purchase an upgrade kit. 10 more upgrade kits purchased means we can donate $1,000 to the University District Food Bank!
Will you help me reach this goal?
