This past weekend our very own Coach Dini Pineda dominated her division and took gold at the IBJJF World Master Jiu Jitsu Championship. Not a single point was scored against her. Congratulations to one of the most disciplined, dedicated and hard-working humans on our mats. You are incredible and we love you!

A Place For Jiu Jitsu. Thank you for two years of Burien BJJ.

Jiu jitsu is not something you can do alone. Everyone brings something different to the team. There is value in variety and we are grateful to share the mat with each of you. Learning and training jiu jitsu is difficult and demanding - as most rewarding and worthwhile things are.

Hard work and growth are sure signs of life, let's keep going.

The Burien BJJ Team put in some solid work on the tournament mats this past weekend at up in Everett. Beautiful performances from everyone and with only 5 competitors we managed to collect the 2nd place team award for adults. Thank you so much to our hard working competitiors who fought a ton of matches, to the coaches and to the entire Burien BJJ team for all the support and quality training on our home mat.

Congratulations to Vivian and Gabe on earning their grey/white belts. These students spend a lot of time on the mats and in the gym. Witnessing their growth as jiu jitsu practioners and especially as young humans is no small honour. Vivian's fierce energy combined with her understanding of jiu jitsu fundamentals and her natural drive to help teach other students through kindness and patience is so valuable. Gabe has worked really hard to channel his internal fire into a powerful form of discipline and personal growth that helps to set a tone for the kind of person he wants to be on the mats and in the world. Thank you both for all your hard work.

Congratulations to Pedro on earning your blue belt! Pedro is a hard-working man who trains regularly, pushes himself in competition and is also a great father to two young humans. This family spends a lot of time on the Burien BJJ mats and we love the energy they all bring to the room. Seeing Pedro elevate his game and training these past 1.5 years as well as becoming a truly valued member of the team has been a beautiful thing!

Congratulations to Caleb on receiving his grey/white belt this week!

He has always been an eager student with a true interest in jiu jitsu. Earlier this year he broke his arm playing soccer and wasn't able to train jiu jitsu for months. When he returned to the mats, his incredible attitude came with him and he jumped back into classes with enthusiasm and positive energy. His conceptual understanding of jiu jitsu is being steadily built and he is an excelletn training partner. We're proud of you Caleb!
