ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Dragon OCR, a Spring race will not happen this year…

I (Jayson Humphrey) want to openly recognize the inconsistency in Dragon’s communication and messaging these past 6 months. Dragon stated that we would start offering two races, 1 in Spring/Summer, 1 in Fall. We have yet to deliver on this and I accept that responsibility.

Our first event (under our new ownership) was AMAZING! Thank YOU!! The epic community experience was exactly what we aimed for and those of you who attended expressed amazingly positive feedback which greatly encouraged us! Dragon is committed to maintain the same level of quality we offered June 2023 and we aim to improve.

Where have we been?? Well, after June last year, some major life obstacles entered the scene and I am still working on overcoming them… the lack of communication is because I have experienced some serious mental and emotional health obstacles. As a result I’ve opted to hold off on another event because I didn’t have the capacity and we would not have been able to deliver the quality event we expect.

For more visibility, Dragon is obviously not my full time gig. I am still building the resources to enable Dragon events to operate even if I am not able to contribute as much as I prefer. While this is a natural part of the entrepreneurial cycle, at this stage, with all things considered, it has been best for me personally (mental & physical health) and professionally (financial & operational health) to pause the Dragon event schedule. Again, I am not willing to deliver a sub-par experience for you, our community, you are our greatest value.

Lastly, as you all know, some obstacles are more challenging than others. Last year, my grandfather, Jennings Humphrey Jr. passed away unexecpectedly. If you’re connecting the dots with our last name, his death directly impacted myself as the owner/operator of DragonOCR, as well as the owner/operators of our new venue where we hosted our first event, Humphrey Farms in Burgaw (where I grew up). As a family we are still recovering, so I have opted to not host a race at Humphrey Farms right now (until further notice). There are still many other amazing things happening at Humphrey Farms so be sure to follow them and support!

In summary, I need more time to recover from this loss, and either Dragon will find another venue to expand with or I will wait to reset the course and launch another epic event as soon as we are able.

We appreciate your support and understanding. We will overcome as always. Keep overcoming and becoming!

Y’all Happy 2024! We are very glad to be past the obstacles from 2023, the past 6 months have been insane on every level. Now we’re finally about ready to crank up another race this Spring…
