On pretty days like today, we really have to wonder how we're NOT out on the water! But alas… admin work, campsite prep, and approximately 10,000 other things on the to-do list before the weekend come first. 😂 The behind the scenes stuff doesn't do itself!

BUT IT'S FRI-YAY! 🙌 And with cooler weather on the way, it's the perfect excuse to get outside and enjoy a little fall adventure.

What's on your weekend agenda? If you're looking for something to do without fighting the fair traffic, we've got a few ideas for you! 😉

A peaceful paddle: Robertson Millpond Preserve still has kayak time slots available if you're in the mood for a relaxing trip through the cypress trees.

A river adventure: Head to Bunn and spend some time paddling the Tar River!

A little fall fun: Swing by Vollmer Farm afterward for a scoop of ice cream and maybe pick out a pumpkin or two for carving!

Fresh air, time outside, ice cream, and pumpkins? Sounds like a pretty good fall day to us.

📣 One last weekend of tubing! 📣

Our tubing season in Bunn is coming to a close, and this weekend will be our last weekend for tubing this year.

So if you've been saying, “We need to get out there sometime this year…” this is your sign! Grab your favorite river crew and come squeeze in one more float before we pack away the tubes for the season.

BUT… the fun on the water isn't over yet!
Kayaking will still be available at both locations!

So while we're saying goodbye to tubing for the season, there are still plenty of opportunities to get outside, paddle around, and enjoy the water.

And honestly, we're not quite ready to put the river season away yet.

The last weekend of summer is here, so let’s soak it up!

And while summer may officially be coming to an end, we all know that here in North Carolina, the warm weather can stick around for quite a while longer! 😉 So don’t put away those river plans just yet!

📍 Bunn Location
The Tar River has come up since last week, thankfully! 🙌 While it’s still not quite high enough for kayaking, the water is looking great for tubing.

🌧We know rain is in the forecast this weekend, but it’s currently looking like the typical afternoon thunderstorms we see this time of year. If you’d rather enjoy your float without the possibility of getting caught in a shower, we recommend grabbing one of our earlier time slots!

📍 Robertson Millpond Preserve
The Millpond is running low with the lack of significant rain recently. For now, we’re recommending that guests explore the pond in a semi-circle rather than completing the full loop. This will help avoid the possibility of getting stuck in the shallower areas toward the back of the pond. There’s still plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy along the way though!

Whether you’re floating the Tar River or exploring the cypress trees at the Millpond, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy being outside. And around here, we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to warm-weather adventures just yet.

Weekend River Update!

📍 Bunn Location
The Tar River is running very low right now since we haven’t had any significant rain in several weeks. Unfortunately, that means we can’t safely run kayak trips at the moment. The water is too shallow, and you’d spend more time dragging and walking your kayak than actually paddling. 😅

Tubes are still running, though! And right now, this is definitely the kind of float for our explorers.

Ever wondered what the bottom of the Tar River looks like? 👀 Now might be your chance! There are only a few sections where you still can’t see the bottom, while much of the river has opened up into shallow water and sandbars that you can get out and explore. Wade through the water, explore the exposed sandbars, see what you can find along the way, and experience a side of the river you don't normally get to see. Just be prepared for a slower float and some walking along the way!

We still have a few kayak reservation times available this Saturday! If a peaceful paddle through the cypress-lined waters sounds more like your kind of adventure, there’s still time to grab a spot. Water is a little low, but still navigable. Just may be a little tight at the back of the pond for the tandems.
