Our tiniest VolleyTot - Quinn. Aka Q-Tip as she’s known around league. 🙂‍↕️🏐

Q-Tip wears many hats at IVC. Sometimes she is my assistant coach (she is very mean) and is very good at telling the girls they need to call their ball! And sometimes she is a player. She knows that when she’s outside she likes to hit “5 5 5” and she likes to call her ball before she hits it. I personally love this. Nobody will be taking her sets. She knows that when she’s setting the ball she has to start in “setter ready” and finish with her right foot in front. She knows that she needs to be “big like a bear” when she’s on defense and move her feet to the ball.

Something Q-Tip doesn’t know yet (according to her) is how many days are in a month. And if you say something is happening next month, she’ll ask how many days is that. When you tell her she will say something like, “oh okay, well I don’t really know my days.” 😂

Well.. speaking of things happening in a month!!

One of my 10U girls, Lou, putting in WORK in the gym!! 🏐🔥

At the beginning of summer, Lou couldn’t consistently get her serve over the net from even 10 feet away. Now this girl is serving from the BASELINE!! Watching her work, improve, and refuse to give up has been so incredible. Her progress is a perfect reminder that hard work really does pay off. I’m SO proud of her!!

AND THEN she tells me she wants to go to NEBRASKA. ❤️🌽🏐 GBR!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL = LET’S GOOOOOOO 🏐📚💚💙

To all of our Infinity athletes — whether today was your first day back or you’re headed in tomorrow, we are SO proud of you.

New teachers. New classes. New challenges. And for a lot of you… SCHOOL BALL TRYOUTS 👀🏐

Go in there and be YOU. Work hard. Be kind. Compete like crazy. Cheer for your teammates. And remember that you don’t have to be perfect — you just have to give them your best.

I see the way you all look at me….me and my awesome outfits. Well here you go - you too can look just like ME!! (best dressed coach in east Texas and probably the world)

Lisa (aka Gram, because that’s what half the club calls her 💚) is taking over of all of our merch this season. Everything is made to order, the quality is top-notch, and faster than a hiccup (please say that in a southern drawl).

IVC 10 & 11U… this is who you are. ❤️

A few days ago, I met a mom in our community who had just welcomed a new baby and was in desperate need of formula, diapers, wipes, and other basic necessities. I sent a message to the parents on my two teams, and within literal minutes, nearly $200 had been sent to my Venmo so we could help her.

I don’t even have the words to express how proud and grateful I am.

What makes this even more special is that just this Monday at team camp, we created a culture board together. We talked about how we want our teammates to feel and the kind of people we want to be. The girls came up with words like empathy, selflessness, kindness, and the fruits of the Spirit—completely on their own.

Moments like this remind me that culture isn’t something you write on a poster. It’s something you live.

These girls are growing into incredible athletes, but even more importantly, they’re surrounded by families who are raising compassionate, generous, community-minded young people. When there was a need, our IVC family didn’t hesitate—they simply showed up.

And that makes me more proud than any medal ever could. 💙💚

These Cavaness girls have been at BYU camp!

Abbie is on Hillary Crist 13U and Ruby is one of our youngest club members, she is on my 10U this year. We are recruiting Sophia for the next few years. Hoping she’ll be just as tall as her sisters and her aunt (Coach Gabby!) I know she is just as feral (maybe even more).

We love getting pictures like this from our club families. We are all invested in your athlete and their growth and love to see all the cool places they go just to get better at volleyball.

Sutton Sturrock #3 - 14U Nationals

Some athletes are talented. Some athletes work hard. Every once in a while, you get one who does both.

I am unbelievably proud of this kid.

She’s been with IVC just as long as I have. At one of the very first camps I ever ran, we were playing a drill called Death by Defense. At the time, I was recruiting for my first 11U team. I remember absolutely roasting her in that drill, and after it was over I looked at her and asked, “What’s your name?”

Fast forward to tryout day.

Sutton’s name was the first name I wrote down with a big circle around it.

Why?

Because she had it.

Not just the skill. The attitude. The grit. The willingness to outwork everyone around her.

She is the definition of everything I preach as a coach- Hustle. Heart. Hard Work.

I’ve watched her grow from a young kid with potential into an athlete who competes with confidence, leads by example, and never backs down from a challenge. Nothing has been handed to her. She’s earned every bit of it.

Watching athletes like Sutton succeed is why I coach. She represents what IVC is all about, and I couldn’t be more proud to have been part of her journey.
