With the announcement of the WSTF Action Plan, many supporters of the Western States Trail have expressed interest in helping with trail repair and upkeep. We’ve been touched by offers of time and money. We can use the help and would love to have it.

We’re excited to share that in early August we had two great meetings and – along with our partner organization, the Western States Run - kicked off the WST Reconditioning Project with Auburn State Recreation Area and the US Forest Service.

So, let’s get it done!

ONE is for the one and only Hal Hall! We are so honored to have such wonderful endurance legends bracket the countdown this year. Hal is returning to the ride this year for the first time since 2013. Hal has finished the ride an impressive THIRTY times - that's 30 folks! - with 3 Tevis Cup awards (1974, 1977, 1990), 3 Haggin Cup Awards (1972, 1978, 2002). Hal is also on the Josephine Stedem Scripps Foundation Trophy for his 1970 finish as a Junior Rider.
Hal has two horses on the Robie Trophy - El Karbaj with an impressive 12 finishes and Bogus Thunder who Hal rode for 3 of his 5 completions with wife Ann riding the other 2. We wish him and his rookie mount Direct the best of rides!

Five is for these two steeds who are aiming for their 5th finish and recognition on the Robie Trophy for any horse which has finished the ride 5 of more times. We're all cheering for you Cowbboy Bob (Cowboy) ridden by Kathie Perry and Bailie Skrit Ablaze (Little Man) ridden by Pamela Bailie. Very exciting prize donation! Mika Lund will be donating a custom portrait as one of our ride awards for Kanopolis and for Sand Hills! She does fantastic work—when I have more information to contact her for a commission I will pass it on! Let’s support her as she is supporting us! ❤️❤️
