It is with the deepest sorrow that I have to announce that Sensei passed away on February 8, 2020, at 7:59am, after a short illness. He was at home surrounded by family and an abundance of love. Rest in peace, Sensei. We all love you so much. Thank you to everyone who reached out to express their condolences, feasted in Sensei's honor, shared personal memories, or are just grieving in silence. We all share the loss of a great man and a profound influence in our lives. Sensei has said numerous times that he loves you all very much and is so proud of his extended family. There is a memorial service at the Hombu Dojo in Charleston on February 23rd. Not everyone will be able to attend. He felt like Buffalo was his second home. You all have touched Sensei just as Sensei has touched all of us. We are all blessed to part of Sensei's Ohana, and I know Sensei felt blessed to have you all in his Ohana.
We will hold a memorial service in Sensei's honor on Sunday, March 8th at the Kintora Dojo. 1827 Niagara St. Buffalo, NY 14207 at 11:00am. As practicing martial artists, it would be appropriate to wear a gi. There will be a short class for anyone wishing. Non-practicing guests are not required to do so, and all are welcome to attend. It will be followed by a spaghetti lunch (Sensei's favorite) and a sharing of stories.
If you should want to make a donation, I would suggest making a donation to the family. As trying a time as this is for the family emotionally, it will also be so financially. If you do wish to make a donation, you may mail a check, or use the GoFundMe link. This will allow you to use credit/debit cards. The link is:

There's no obligation or pressure to donate, but I'm sure the family would greatly appreciate the gesture. Judy Grundy Shihan will also collect cash or checks and mail them to the family.
