Elite players get lucky often.

Something I’ve seen in a couple sessions recently is players getting a few tough shots hit on them, and labeling it as luck. I don’t think this is true, and I also think it’s often times an excuse used by players when they are getting torched. Luck exists, but attributing too much to luck is a limiting belief that can cap you significantly!!

The brain makes adaptations as well. A lot of things we are quick to rule off as natural talent (just because it can be true doesn’t mean it always is) are actually qualities that are quite trainable! I could tell you it’s because you don’t know how to train these qualities, but you’ve been aiming at stuff since you were a kid. You just got away from it at some point (or maybe not idrk what your life looking like😂), and you need to re introduce it in a way that challenges you. This could be on the court or as a warm-up for your performance work. I like both!

If you wanna build that “different gear”, it may start with slowing down for a sec and coming to terms with the things that are outside of your scope of control. I think that it’s okay to complain at times, we are human. But if you wanna be great, don’t be the dude who complains about their coach and then goes and sits on the game when realistically, if your coach only played you 10 minutes, okay yes that’s not ideal - but if you flip your mentality, your legs are sure as hell fresh enough to go get 60-90 minutes of work in that moves the needle!!

Of course, this is a specific example. But if you’re an athlete, start paying attention to the things you complain about that pull you away from ACTUAL POSITIVE ACTION. Once you’re aware, you can make the decision to act in spite of these “cards stacked against you” at this very moment!

Combining training like this with challenging on air shooting work, over the course of an entire off season, can breed some pretty dope results. Send this to a group of 2+ players you’re sweeping in this 🧹
