Today, I had a session with Tamika, my final lesson during my time in Australia.
My ankle was still not fully recovered. While the pain and inflammation had mostly subsided, some swelling remained, requiring careful and precise adjustments based on my current physical condition.
Rather than using the springs I typically work with, Tamika adjusted the spring tension and modified the exercises to meet my ankleโs condition on that day. The range of motion and overall load were thoughtfully regulated, allowing me to move in the safest and most efficient way possible without compromising the integrity of the method.
What stood out most was the Romana Pilates approach itself. Instead of forcing the body to fit predetermined movements, the lesson was built around my individual body condition, with the range and load continuously adapted to what my body could genuinely support.
This experience reinforced a core principle of Romana Pilates: exercises may be adapted, but the system remains intact. By respecting the bodyโs condition while preserving the structure of the method, the work remains precise, effective, and safe.
