Physique update + are we going for Sasquatch?! 👀

7 months postpartum, y’all! 🥹❤️

I still can’t believe this body allowed me to grow and bring a whole human into this world… and now allows me to do what I love again.

Our bodies are truly magical.

Initially, the plan Jami (Jamie) De Bernard John Person and I had was to jump into Sasquatch Michele Mayberry which would have made this the craziest, shortest prep I’ve EVER done 😂😝 And honestly… that alone had me excited.

I LOVE this show and their production team so much. I was also beyond excited because my mom was finally going to get to watch me compete on stage for the FIRST TIME ever. 🥹

And getting to step on stage in front of some of the judges like Steve Devore, Ivan Ribic Dominic Current who have been a big part of my journey since day one would have made it even more special.

But sometimes, our plans change.

Last week I had a pretty scary health situation: high fevers, uncontrollable shaking, and a lot of pelvic inflammation and pain. It completely took me out of prep for a full week.

Yesterday was my first day back to my normal routine.

So as sad as I am to say it, I’m going to have to sit out one of my favorite shows this year. 💔

Right now, healing and taking care of my body comes first.

And THIS is today’s check-in.
7 months postpartum.
A week out of routine.
Still healing and recovering.
Still proud as hell of this body. ❤️
This isn’t the end of the comeback though…

The next show has already been picked. Hehe 😏🔥

6.5 month postpartum. And just like that… the journey back to the stage BEGINS. 🖤

No rush. No pressure. No timeline. And absolutely nothing to prove.

Just me, listening to my body, enjoying the process, and feeling incredibly grateful that this journey is supported and made possible by the best husband I could ever ask for. 🥹

And what a privilege it is to have the opportunity to inspire the mamas out there who may be wondering if they can still chase big dreams after becoming a mom.

YOU CAN.
Yes… YOU. 🫶🏻

Motherhood doesn’t mean your dreams have to disappear.
Your journey may look different.
Your timeline may change.
But you are still allowed to want more, challenge yourself, and see what you’re capable of.

So here we go…

John, JJ, and this little family of mine… they are ALWAYS at the heart of everything I do.

May you never let anyone convince you that chasing a big goal means putting the people you love on the back burner. That you have to put life on pause for bodybuilding. That success requires sacrificing everything else that matters.

I never did. And I never will.

Everyone has their own way of getting to their goals — and I’m simply here to show you my way.

Because at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter what you win, what title you earn, or where you place.

What matters is who is still beside you when you get there.

And even more than that… who was beside you through the climb. 🖤

My greatest purpose.

Yaya Simmons — DAY ONE ➡️ NOW.

4 shows together.
3 Open class wins.
1 Overall win.
A 4th-place finish at her FIRST EVER NATIONAL SHOW.

But the stats aren’t what we’re most proud of.

The growth we’ve seen in Yaya, inside and out, from October 2025 until now is something we honestly rarely get to experience, even after many years of coaching.

We’ve watched her confidence grow.
We’ve watched her discipline evolve.
We’ve watched her become more resilient, more focused, and more sure of herself.
And most importantly, we’ve watched the athlete and woman she is becoming.

And DAMN, are we proud. 🥹❤️

Yaya, you know how much you mean to us. Your trust in us, your coachability, your willingness to learn, and your resilience through every part of this journey do not go unnoticed.

You’ve never been afraid to WORK. You listen, you apply, you show up, and you keep getting better.

And the crazy part?

We haven’t even had our first full growth season together yet.

We are SO excited to see what we can build with time, intention, and a full season to grow.

For someone with your work ethic, your heart, and your hunger to improve, the sky truly is the limit.

Proud of you, Yaya. Proud of what we’ve already accomplished together, but even more excited for the athlete we know you’re becoming.

Mommy and Daddy survived our first trip away from JJ…

Oh, BARELY. 😂🤍

We may or may not have changed our flight and decided to come home early. 😆

Daddy cried the most.
Mommy definitely got teary.
And baby? Well… he just smiled that sweet little smile like, “Y’all are dramatic.” 😂

But as hard as it was to leave him, this time together was something we really needed.

Just the two of us.

We had some much-needed conversations about how much our life has changed over the last 9 months. We talked about us, our family, our businesses, where we are, where we’re going… and took a little time to realign.

Because becoming parents again has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives, but it has also changed so much.

And in the middle of being Mommy and Daddy, business partners, coaches, gym owners, and everything else life asks us to be… I never want to forget to protect US.

Nothing is more important to me than staying connected with John.

So we had our little getaway.

Gym time.
Shopping.
Long conversations.
Laughing together.
And, naturally, some chicken and rice at our favorite hotel because apparently we really know how to vacation. 😆😂

My heart is full.

Our marriage cup feels a little fuller.

And now… GET US HOME TO OUR BABY. 😂😭🤍

We are more than ready for all the JJ snuggles. 🥹
