You never know who might wander by while you’re standing in a mountain stream.

While we were fishing, this black bear came walking out of the woods and gave us one of those unforgettable Smoky Mountain moments. We simply stayed still, gave him his space, and let him go about his business.

Seeing wildlife like this in its natural habitat is one of the things that makes fly fishing the Great Smoky Mountains so special. The trout are what bring us to the river, but sometimes the memories that stick with you have nothing to do with the fish.
