Some of our Turkish Friends came today.. We now have 2 groups of them. These guys were from Cary, NC..
They gave me two different types of rolls and a Cool Drink.
It's called ULUDAG GAZOZ!
The Rolls are gone now.. Ha..Ha. The drink was a Carbonated Orange drink.. Not Sweet like American Drinks, but, pleasantly sweet, not overly.
It's sweetness is from the Sugar of the "Beet"..
The Uludag is the Name of a Mountain in West Turkey, where the water coming down the mountain was used to make the drink originally back in the 1930's. The Second part of the name
Gazoz is based on the French word gazeuse or in English gaseous; referring to the Carbonation. Most commonly in Turkey would be the Lemonade flavor it appears..
If you guys get a chance to try it, and are not sure what it is, "There You Go".. Well worth experiencing.
In my travels, NO COUNTRY dumps as much Sugar into drinks as Our Country does. If you stop drinking Cokes, etc, for a couple of months, it's really hard to get one down the gut with the Loads of Sugar and the "Harsh almost Chemical Burn Carbonation"..
This Gazoz (Carbonation) was very pleasant.
Thanks Guys.. See you next trip..
Bring some Leftovers next time.. :) Celebrate the trip, and bring some Leftovers.. Ha..ha..
Everything on this page looks/sounds awesome, and this is just 10.. Ha..Ha..
We also have several Persian Groups, and Today had some Koreans with us.. Next trip, Leftovers guys.. Ha..ha..
We used to have a group come during Spring Break, and we would drink home made moonshine, Korean Soju, they would cook their dishes, I would cook some Cajun dishes and we would chow down and,,,,, no wonder I can't remember the name of their dishes.. :)

I had a Persian teach me how to cook rice. I still use the technique today.. I still enjoy cooking the Tahdig, Shirin Polo, etc..
One of the best things about traveling is sampling the local cuisine. One of the best dinners I ever had was in maastricht, in the Netherlands, the next best dinner was in Quingdao China, with my Translator, his best friend who was our Chef for the evening, and they invited 3 local English Teachers over to have dinner with us..
If you guys ever get up in the North East of China,,, don't miss the Opportunity to see one of the Seafood Markets..
It was bigger than the biggest "Super Walmart" I have ever seen.
Most of what we purchased for Dinner was swimming before we purchased them..
Cheers Everyone! The more I see here in America, the more I appreciate other Cultures.. God Bless!! Mark T.
