🏀 WELCOME TO BGB, COACH EDWARDS!*🐝💙
Bryant Girls Basketball is excited to welcome Darius Edwards as the coach of our 8th Grade Girls Blue Team!
Coach Edwards is also a 7th Grade Math teacher who is passionate about helping young people grow both academically and athletically. His coaching experience includes serving as a volunteer assistant coach for a youth league in Little Rock and working one-on-one with young athletes in the community and in his hometown of Fordyce.
His desire to coach was shaped by his former high school coaches, Stan Jones and Brandon Jones, whose mentorship helped build his confidence and taught him how to rise above hardship. Their impact inspired Coach Edwards to provide that same guidance, encouragement, and support to the next generation.
For Coach Edwards, basketball is about much more than what happens on the court. He believes the game can prepare athletes for life by developing character, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and resilience. He wants his players to learn how to navigate the social, professional, and emotional demands of the real world.
This season, Coach Edwards is most excited about building strong team relationships and culture, developing his players, experiencing the energy of competition, and celebrating the rewards that come from the work done both on and off the court.
Something people may be surprised to learn about him is that he strives to demonstrate the faith and perseverance of Job. His favorite Scripture is John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
