She almost didn’t walk through the doors.
Now she’s stronger, more confident, and competing alongside her best friends.
This is what happens when you choose courage over comfort.
Read her story below. 👇🔥
In January of 2023, I was two years postpartum, adjusting to my new role as a stay-at-home mom to my then six, four, and two-year-olds. We had just moved back to Arkansas after seven years in Texas, and I found myself searching. I was the heaviest I had ever been in my weight, and my energy levels were at their lowest. There were so many crash diets and quick loss supplements, but I knew those were just quick fixes. And in order for me to truly see changes, I needed to create new daily habits. I reached out to a nutritionist and very vulnerably shared my struggles, fears, and hopes. Through her, I was connected to ZFit Training. I will be honest, on day one, I did not want to go in. I drove 20 minutes to the gym, sat in my car, and nearly drove away. Thankfully, I walked through those doors and unknowingly began the journey that changed my life. In my first class, the coach guided me the whole way through. He showed me each movement, each skill, and always offered an alternative if something was beyond my ability or comfort level. After that first day, I came back again. Day one turned into day 10, and before I knew it, I was going to the gym four plus times a week. I slowly began to notice physical changes. I was losing weight and building muscle. That summer, after six months in the gym, I took my kids to a water park for the day. We were there for over six hours, and I remember texting my friend from the gym that not once that entire day did I have to tell my children, mommy can't, I'm too tired. I kept up all day. I had the strength and energy because of the lifestyle change ZFit Training gave me. As each month passed, I became more confident in my ability and more comfortable because of the new community I had found. After a year, another member encouraged me to start competing in CrossFit. Again, nervous and reluctant, I signed up for my first competition. One taste of the competition floor and I was hooked. I've had the privilege to compete alongside some other amazing people who, just like me, started with day one in the gym. Many people gawk and claim to not understand how anyone can have the time to go to the gym every day. But when I got off work, I used to crave snacks, the TV, and my couch. I still crave snacks, but each day I wait with anticipation when I get to head to the gym to hang out with my best friends. With this community, we have celebrated job promotions, engagements, game nights, going away parties, birthdays, and the simple accomplishments of everyday life. Three years ago, I struggled to get out of bed and in five months, I will return to Monster Games for a third time to compete with my best friend. These words don't do justice for the impact the people in this place have had for me. I encourage you to come experience it for yourself. If you need me to, I will walk through the door with you.
