Some people are a perfect example of what it means to be fit for life, and Raquel is one of them.
Raquel has been training with me since 2023. She started with two sessions a week and now trains three times a week, and anyone who has ever been around her during a workout knows that she works HARD.
Her job requires early mornings, long days, and often late nights, but she continues to make her training a priority. She also has arthritis and truly believes that motion is one of the best forms of medicine. Now, while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, that mindset has not changed.
Chemo has not stopped her from showing up. Of course, we modify when we need to and pay attention to what her body is telling us; however, she continues to work hard and refuses to quit simply because this season looks different.
Since her first session in 2023, Raquel has lost more than 50 pounds. I want to be very clear that SHE DID THAT. I may get to coach her, encourage her, and occasionally tell her to do something she would rather not do, but the work and consistency have always been hers.
Raquel wants to be strong, capable, and able to keep doing the things she loves for as long as possible. That is what being fit for life truly means.
Raquel, I am so proud of you, and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to be a small part of your story. Keep showing up, keep moving, and keep getting stronger.
