We had a great time at Pine Hill on Saturday!

We went 8 for 8 in clear XC rounds and 6 for 8 in clear SJ rounds!

Lenny finished his second prelim with a slow but clear XC, an improved SJ and improved dressage.

Mickey and I won the Open Training, just adding a little time to our 31.9 dressage. Brett finished on his dressage with Finn for 4th/11 in same division.

Sophia finished on a 27.5 dressage in Open Novice B for 3rd out of 11 starters. Nat R finished on her dressage in the same division for Pens first show back in quite a while.
Reatta was 3rd in Open Novice A with Janet.

Leah finished on her 25.9 dressage for 3rd in Beginner Novice with Pharoah. Meag finished on her dressage of 33.8 in Blues first BGN!

Coconino II recap:

We went 7 for 7 in clear XC rounds.

Leah won beginner novice rider with Pharoah by finishing on her dressage!

Brett finished on his dressage with Finn in training rider.

Rommina was 3rd in her horse’s first ever beginner novice with a stellar dressage & clear XC.

Mickey was a star around the training XC but had sore feet for SJ and so I had to scratch.

Lenny and my mom did his 6th training and final qualifier for prelim. She and Reata were 5th in novice with just a little time added to dressage.

Red and I were second in starter.

Great fun first weekend at Coconino!

All horses had clear XC rounds. 5 out of 7 had clear SJ.

Rommina WON starter leading from beginning to end with her homebred Incauto in his second ever event!

Brett finished on his dressage for 4th out of 10 in training rider. Video shows him through the coffin.

Leah only added one rail to a solid dressage for 5th out of 13 in BGN.

Reatta and my Mom were tied for first with a 29.7 going into XC but was not closest to Optimum time and so finished 2nd. Mickey and I finished on our 30.0 to be 3rd in same division out of 14 in Open novice.

Lenny and my Mom did not have their best show with a couple rails in SJ but rocked around XC with just a handful of time to get another training qualifier and 5th in Open training.

Red finished way down in starter since I trotted jumps in both phases to work on relaxation/balance & so had time faults but he jumped around clean and learned a lot!

We had a great show at the June Meadow Creek.

Rommina finished on her dressage to win starter in Incauto HC’s first ever horse trial. She just added one rail to be 3rd in the Beginner Novice with Revel in his second event (shown in video).

Mickey was 3rd in the novice, only adding one rail to a winning 28 dressage.
Reatta and my Mom won the novice!
Mom also won the training on Lenny.

Brett was 4th out of 10 in his first training level with Finn, only adding a handful of planned time penalties to his dressage!

Leah only added one rail to her dressage in BGN. Catherine finished on her dressage in starter. Red and I did not have a great show on paper but I think he learned a lot.

Sophia did training dressage & show jumping with novice XC. She did great around a rough SJ course for her & her horse’s first time at the level and then finished with a beautiful double clear XC.

May activities:

We took 8 horses to Dripping Springs for the open jumpers at the pony club rally. It was us against us in the open so we took all the ribbons 😂

In all seriousness though, very educational outing for horses and fantastic hospitality from Rio Grande region pony club!

Then we went to Holly Hill. To be honest, I’ve forgotten exactly where everyone ended up but to the best of my memory—

Mick did his first training level, had one run out but we got it done! This one I’m sure about since it was me 😂. 2 pictures are of Mickey, thank you Ann for photos!!

Janet finished on her dressage with both Lenny in training & Reatta in Novice. Might have won novice?

Brett was 2nd in starter catch riding Leah’s horse while she was at her brothers graduation. I think also 2nd on Finn in novice.

Lizzie was 2nd in BGN? Sophia was definitely 2nd in junior novice despite a stop—XC was tough. Maggie finished 5th in BGN. Red was 2nd in the open division of starter with me. Catherine and Benjamin had a fun outing and very relaxed SJ but a few mishaps on XC. Revel and Rommina finished on their BGN dressage in his first full horse trial!

While I’m not sure on the details of placings, I know it was a blast at one of my favorite places with a great group of people!!!

March was a busy month!

We went to the Meadow Creek schooling show with 14 horses and had 12 clear XCs! The two that were not were both me. I was the problem! Everyone else had a fantastic show!

Then we went schooling twice and did a jumper show. Had some great practice doing those things.

Then to cap it off we went to TX Rose this past weekend for the first recognized show of the year.

Brett finished on his dressage in the novice with Finn! My mom just added a hair of XC time with Lenny in the training and one rail to her dressage with Reatta in the BGN.

Nat R rode like a champ in SJ in her first recognized training to only have the first fence down. XC she got a little too tentative riding around her first really proper track, which resulted in a stop early on and quite a bit of time. As the saying goes, experience is what you get right after you need it!

I’m proud of her for regrouping and jumping around the rest of the course without problems. It’s not easy to produce a horse to training level without ever having gotten mileage from an experienced horse and I’m really proud of what she has accomplished taking her horse from off the track to this point.

Mickey and I had a stellar show, leading dressage with a 28 and just adding one rail to move us to 2nd. I’m making a lot of changes on my SJ riding and going through some growing pains with that. But this was the best XC I have ever had on him and overall his most confident show yet.

We had a blast at Pine Hill this past weekend.

We had 13 horses compete and 10 out of those 13 jumped clear SJ rounds with the remaining 3 horses only having one rail each.

12 out of 13 finished with no XC jumping penalties!

Lenny and my Mom won the Training!!
Nat R had a double clear SJ on Pen in the training! Pen was a little rusty on XC and stuttered down the drop for one stop on XC but otherwise had a great round.

Myself & Mickey finished on our dressage to win Novice A.

Brett finished on his dressage to be 2nd in Novice B. Sophia was right behind, just adding a little SJ time in the same division for 3rd.

Leah scored a 29 in dressage to sit in 2nd and then had a double clear SJ (shown). She took her time on XC since it was Pharoahs first BGN and only 3rd time on an XC course which moved her down to 7th.

Lizzy had a great show, only adding SJ time to be 3rd with Double in BGN. Reatta and mom added one rail to finish 3rd.

HB & Maggie only added XC time to their dressage in BGN.
Laura & Mira added one rail and XC time in BGN.

Elliot had a double clear SJ to finish 2nd in the starter CT. Carleigh finished on her dressage in starter with Dorian. Meag just added a little XC time to her dressage with Blue in starter.

Fun show at PH yesterday.

Dorian I added one rail to our dressage to finish 3rd in her first BGN.

Brett finished on his dressage for 3rd in the other division with Finn. Lizzy had double clear XC & improved SJ for 5th at BGN with Double.

Leah WON her first show on Pharoah & his first event, leading start to finish in starter.

Meag & Laura had good BGN combined tests to get their horses going this season.

Elliot cantered her while SJ course in starter CT and showed she is ready for HT next time.

Our Eventing season has come to a close!

Following order of pictures:

Nat R just added one rail and some time to her dressage in the training for sixth. Took it slow on XC to work on softness & position. She has made huge progress with Pen this season.

Mom and Lenny had a rough SJ where they lost the rhythm for some rails. As usual he stormed around the XC! He has really become a confident training level horse this season.

Mom & Reatta won the beginner novice, finishing on their dressage.

My mom is in her sixties and is training all these young horses and I think it won’t be too long we see her at prelim again.

Laura had a great first BGN for both her & her mare. One run out early on XC but strong finish.

Maggie & HB finished on her dressage for 5/12 in her first ever BGN.

Brett was 2nd in sane division on new horse Finn.

Carleigh schooled beautifully on Friday and after a green bobble in the beginning in SJ had a great round in her mares first BGN. Dorian had a 4 yr old moment in warm up on Sunday and popped Carleigh out of the tack and they weren’t ready to go out afterward so we withdrew. Carleigh has done an amazing job getting this horse more relaxed over fences this season—it’s not easy training a sensitive TB mare as a young rider still learning yourself.

Not pictured—

Sophia just added one rail and 2 seconds of XC time to her dressage in the novice on Empire.

Mickey won the novice.

Meag & Elliot did the starter combined test with double clear SJ and had great XC schools on Friday!

Well we do need to get to the base better, but what a scopey horse!

Brett finished on his dressage for second place in the Beginner Novice after only a handful of rides with his new horse. We were not planning on taking this one to the show as we originally thought it would be too quick of a turn around from arriving, but Finn has handled everything like a champ and fit right in so we decided to take advantage of the last show of our season to get to know him more at a nice & easy level.

Can’t wait to see how they progress!
