With his military and law enforcement background, passion for personal protection, and desire to train others in the use of armed self-defense skills, Eddie Barnes founded The Southern Institute of Fi****ms Training in 1999. The school is located in Brush Creek TN.

Barnes and his staff constantly study trends and technological advancements in the fi****ms, ammo and self defense industry in order to give students the best training possible along with the TN state handgun permit class. The facilities at SIFT are very safe, family friendly and professionally run. Since 1999 SIFT has grown from one to four on-site gun ranges due to increasing demand. Business hours are 9-5 Monday thru Saturday and 12pm to 5 on Sunday.
