Brunswick Valkyries Girls Rugby Club

10/18/2026

🏉 WEEK 5 MATCH RESULTS 🏉

The girls took the pitch at Euclid High School and battled through another day of Rugby Ohio Fall 7s. Both squads faced their challenges, found moments to fight back, and continued building the chemistry that carries this team forward.

⚔️ A-SIDE: 1-1-1
⚔️ B-SIDE: 1-2

The records tell one part of the story. The heart behind them tells the rest.

👑 QUEEN’S STANDARD

Ella Sabo

Even while sidelined with an injury, Ella showed up for her team and found ways to make an impact. From encouraging her teammates to helping keep scores on the sideline, she brought energy, enthusiasm, and support throughout the day. Her presence mattered, her encouragement carried weight, and her commitment to the team never wavered.

⚔️ A-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Giada Pomeroy

Giada's support lines created opportunities and helped carry the A-side through the flow of play. She showed determination by staying involved, reading the game, and putting herself in positions to support her teammates when they needed her. Giada proved that making an impact isn't always about having the ball. Sometimes it's about being in the right place, at the right time, for the people counting on you.

⚔️ B-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Avery Merkel

Avery brought the kind of energy that makes opponents think twice. Shifty footwork and an instinct for finding gaps where none seemed to exist made her a constant threat on attack. And when it came to defense? Avery delivered huge hits against opponents twice her size, showing that heart and technique can make a serious statement on the pitch. She created opportunities, challenged the opposition, and made her presence felt every time she got involved.

Five weeks down. The Valkyries are heading to the finals.

Some Valkyries lead through their play. Some lead through their voices. Some fight through adversity, while others find a way to lift the entire squad from the sideline.

Every contribution matters.
Every teammate matters.
Because we don't just show up for the matches.
We show up for each other.

With You.....Victory or Valhalla! 🛡️⚔️

👑 QUEEN’S STANDARD

Sophia Pomeroy

Leadership means more than wearing the captain’s title. It means knowing when your teammates need encouragement, lifting their heads when the day gets tough, and leading by example when the pressure rises. Sophia did exactly that. She uplifted her teammates when spirits were low and led the back line with the knowledge, confidence, and composure the team needed. She reminded the Valkyries that no matter what the scoreboard says, the battle is never faced alone.

⚔️ A-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Josie Burich

Josie brought the fight! Her aggressive defense put pressure on the opposition, while her uplifting spirit helped keep her teammates pushing forward. She brought intensity to the pitch and encouragement to the squad, proving that a player's impact can be felt in both the tackles she makes and the teammates she inspires. Josie set the tone and helped keep the A-side moving forward throughout the day.

⚔️ B-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Bailey Sandin

With several line breaks and a relentless approach to the attack, Bailey created opportunities and helped strengthen the chemistry developing across the squad. Her effort brought energy to the pitch and gave her teammates another reason to keep fighting. Bailey showed what it means to keep contributing and keep finding ways to make a difference.

We are now four weeks in. Wins, losses, and draws are all part of the season. What matters is how we respond, how we grow, and how we continue showing up for the Valkyries beside us.

We fight together.
We grow together.
We move forward together.

With You.....Victory or Valhalla! 🛡️⚔️

🏉 WEEK 3 MATCH RESULTS 🏉

Another Sunday. Another day of battle.

The Valkyries came ready to work at Weis Park, and both squads left everything on the field. Through big plays, hard runs, tough defense, and plenty of adversity, the girls continued to push forward and fight for each other from the first whistle to the last.

A-SIDE: 1-2
B-SIDE: 3-1

But the scoreboard only tells part of the story.

👑 QUEEN’S STANDARD

Megan Pepka

Megan fought through injury today with a smile on her face and never stopped finding ways to support her teammates. Whether she was cracking a joke when the team needed a lift, encouraging the girls around her, or helping her teammates lift each other up, Megan showed exactly what it means to put the team first. The Queen’s Standard isn't always about what happens on the field. Sometimes it's about the person standing beside you, making sure everyone else keeps moving forward. Megan embodied that today.

⚔️ A-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Avery Plesec

Avery made her presence felt all day. Her ability to draw in defenders created space for her teammates to attack, including a key play that helped open the door for a try. Her powerful runs and ability to create opportunities for those around her made Avery a key part of the A-side’s chemistry and attack.

⚔️ B-SIDE BATTLE MAIDEN

Gianna Ferrara

Gianna was everywhere today. Line breaks. Support runs. Chase downs. Big moments. Every time Gianna stepped onto the field, she found a way to make a difference. Her effort and awareness kept the B-side moving forward and helped fuel a strong 3-1 day for the squad.

We are three weeks in with plenty of more rugby to come. And through every win, every loss, every hard hit, and every challenge, these girls continue to prove that they don't stand alone.

With You.....Victory or Valhalla! 🛡️⚔️
