The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers had the opportunity to be a part of the ribbon cutting for the “Meet Me Here” court by Rocket Arena. The team was the first tip-off on the court and played a 40 minute intrasquad scrimmage. The atmosphere for this event was phenomenal and we were honored to be there. Thank you Cleveland Cavaliers for being great partners!

Congrats to CLE Rocker Ryleigh Rowe as she was selected to the Shining Star All Tournament Team at the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Women’s National Championships! Only an 8th Grader, Ryleigh started each game and competed against very good athletes! Congrats Ryleigh!!!

CLE Rockers finished the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Women’s Division National Championships with a win over the Phoenix Mercury. The ladies came in as the 14th (and last) seed, and went 3-1 (losing in OT in the semifinals) to finish in 11th place. One of the unique and positive rule within the Women’s Division is to allow a couple roster spots to be players from outside your geographical area. This increases the exposure for our athletes to different players, and allows athletes from areas who do not have a team opportunities to play and compete. The developmental positives are outstanding for the athletes.

For a group of ladies who have never played on the court together until this weekend, we are proud of how they have represented and fight until the end. Down 14 with 6 minutes left in the game, they battled and tied the game to send it into overtime. Give the opponent credit as they hit a tough shot from 17 feet away as the shot clock expired to take the lead and win the game at the end of OT. The ladies showed a lot this weekend and we are proud. One more game, tomorrow at 12:00 pm est vs Phoenix. Big shoutout to Annabelle Jeffs who lead the team today!
