I have been quiet on this page for quite a while, but I have not stopped paying attention to the way people experience fitness.
The more I work with people and learn about movement, the more I notice how many people know they need to become stronger—but do not feel confident about how to begin.
Sometimes it is because something hurts.
Sometimes their body has changed after an injury, surgery, stress, hormonal changes or years of putting themselves last.
Sometimes they have tried repeatedly, but every plan seems too advanced, too extreme or impossible to maintain when real life happens.
And sometimes they are not afraid of working hard.
They are afraid they will do the wrong thing and make themselves feel worse.
I want to begin using this page to talk more about that space:
• Rebuilding strength when you do not trust your body
• Understanding modifications without feeling incapable
• Learning what your body is telling you
• Creating routines that work during imperfect weeks
• Feeling strong and capable again without punishing yourself
I am also beginning to research and develop something for women who relate to this experience.
For now, I would genuinely like to hear from you:
What is the biggest thing that makes it difficult for you to begin exercising—or begin again?
