Junior Ryan Popowich (6-4) of Bruce was voted Player of the Year in the Lakeland East Conference. The active and versatile forward averaged 23.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.2 steals while helping Bruce to a 20-5 record and second-place finish in the league standings to Prairie Farm.

Congratulations to boys basketball team members for being recognized for their academic work as well.

The WBCA recognizes state athletes for their work in the classroom each year. Student athletes have to be a varsity player and have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher.
