Blue dyed stabilized (I believe is) oak burl with a Bois D'ark insert. My son helped me with the barrel and the insert.. the barrel was from an old project that I had stopped, but we reshaped it and finished it!

It has been about a year since I've made a call.. but I still got it. This one is for the plumbers!

Copper with a Bois D'ark toneboard.

I am going to start making a few calls again and selling them. I will only be making a limited amount right now and not taking any sort of special orders.

This is one of my favorite color combos.. African blackwood and copper. A simple hunting call is my favorite call to make because I know it's going to be used. There is nothing wrong with a shelf queen, but I personally love to make a call I know will be on someone's lanyard.

I have taken some time off from making calls due to personal reasons and a little bit of burnout. But I have started the lathe back up mainly because my 3 year old son has wanted to play with my lathe (or as he calls it the duck call machine 🤣).. so, of course, him and I started working on a call, and this is what turned out. He helped shape the barrel and the insert.

I will keep this call forever, and I look forward to the days him and I take this call on its first duck hunt!

Well, today I had to say goodbye to my best friend, Dozer.. the D in J&D Calls. He has been there since the beginning and has been my best friend for the last 12 years. We have spent many times in a duck blind together and laid up relaxing after a long day. I will miss him so much and he will live in my heart and soul forever.
Miss you and love you Dozer!

I was asked to showcase my calls at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art in San Angelo Tx for a exhibit called True Texas II: Folk & Traditional Arts from the Concho Valley to the Rio Grande. This exhibit showcases some amazing art and handmade items from very talented individuals and I am proud to say I was selected to be on of them. The exhibit runs from Sep 21st to Nov 27th. If you happen to be in the area stop by and admire all the amazing work!
