IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT! 💥 The 96 Niners Tryouts are officially here!

The wait is over and evaluation week is live. We blocked out 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the schedule tonight, but these evaluations won't take that long at all.

Show up ready to work, get on the field, and let's go! 🚀

Let's clear this up upfront before the first ball is thrown: The 96 handles absolutely everything. Uniforms, fields, tournaments, pap (pay-at-the-plate umpire fees) are 100% covered out of pocket. Your kid shows up, we handle the rest. Period. There are no massive travel team fees, no hidden costs, and zero parent fundraising contracts.

We are hitting three different locations across the surrounding districts this week to find our fall roster:

To get to where they want to be someday, a player needs to see exactly what clean fundamentals look like from guys who have already mastered them.

BIG NEWS: I presented a request to the coaching staff at HPU, and they appreciated my approach and agreed!
A couple of players are going to attend the full team practices starting in September to demonstrate fundamental skills (running to first, how to bunt, proper way to field batted balls, etc) and make sure our players are executing on the field.

Having these elite young adults, the real stars of the game in this area, showing these players how to execute these movements and making sure they get it is going to be awesome.

Because this is an entirely independent, fully privately funded grassroots development program, they backed the request. We are working out the details over the next couple of weeks as the players return to campus.

To anchor this, every player gets a baseball on Day 1 to have autographed by the various ball players they get to interact with throughout the season.

Engineering a high-status athletic laboratory means creating a definitive blueprint, executing it with military precision, and sticking to it every single time the boots hit the dirt.

My 90-minute weeknight practice plans don't change based on feelings, local politics, or excuses. The metrics are locked, the continuous 3-player station transitions are timed to the second, and the expectations are non-negotiable.

I put in the work behind the scenes to build this player laboratory, and I expect the exact same level of accountability, preparation, and hustle from every player and parent who steps across my perimeter fence.

Too many youth programs across Texas treat families like a cash register while delivering chaotic, unorganized field time. I don't run a casual backyard hangout, I don't sell a fake dream, and I don't tolerate lazy, un-evaluated repetitions.I expect standard. I expect focus. I expect performance.
This is the standard.

Y’all ask for flyers, so here you go.
The 96 Niners 9U team is holding open tryouts for a single 12‑player roster. This is a fully sponsored travel team with a flat $0.00 cost to families and no strings attached. I’m building this team under The 96 structure to show exactly what our model can do for young athletes in Central Texas.

Outside of my 20 years in the Air Force and my work on the baseball dirt, I’m proud to serve our community as a volunteer advocate for CASA. I’m running and funding this team because I believe in giving kids a real chance to grow, compete, and build a strong foundation early.

I’m not trying to cherry‑pick a roster, and I’m not discouraging top‑tier players either. I’m looking for kids who truly want to play, who want to work, and who meet the baseline standards I’ve laid out here and on the website. This is a great opportunity to develop a strong player the right way, and I’m fielding only one team with only 12 players.

Take a good look at how development will happen on the field for my upcoming 9U team.

I do not run those lazy travel-ball lines where kids stand around tap-dancing at cones or waiting twenty minutes just to field a single baseball.

Throughout my career as an official and leader, I have been in several states and seen all types of training styles, and the current state of the travel ball world is failing our kids.

My model breaks away from that chaos by using a three-player practice structure that constantly rotates who is training with who, ensuring every player gets maximum repetitions in a high-focus environment during the week.

Then, the team comes together as a whole on a separate practice day for team building, team drills, and live scrimmages to lock in long-term social development and team cohesion.

When you properly build a player, they make a strong team.

From my military and coaching background, relying solely on massive group settings is a psychological failure that crushes kids who struggle in big social environments. By isolating our weekly skill training into tight three-player cells, we build individual confidence and tight bonds first, so every kid feels secure and functions at a high level when the full unit unifies.
If you want your kid to stop wasting time in exhausting lines disguised as baseball work, look at how a disciplined laboratory builds a team.

THE 96: THE 9U NINERS ROADMAP

Let me clear up the confusion immediately. The 96 is not a casual weekend clinic or a practice-only group. This is a premier, fully active 9U travel baseball team, and it serves as a live preview of the exact structure and culture that my full league will bring to our community starting next fall.

My approach on the field is quiet and focused. Development doesn't require yelling or unnecessary noise. Growth happens in an environment where players can lock into their mechanics, understand the game, and build genuine confidence.

I believe so strongly in supporting these athletes and providing a stable foundation that I am personally covering the team's entire baseline operational costs myself while our corporate sponsorships finalize their paperwork. I am directly funding the custom uniforms, the field permits, and the tournament entries out of my own pocket so our local players don't miss our manufacturing deadlines.

The baseline includes two fully funded tournament entries that cost the families nothing. Spectator gate fees charged by the tournament venues at the entrance are not included. If I feel the team is ready for more competition and the families all agree, we can add extra events to the calendar at cost.

If your kid makes this 12-man roster, they are playing high-intensity travel baseball for a flat $0.00 out-of-pocket player fee for the baseline season.

Evaluations hit the calendar within ten days.
