Just finished marking the course. Conditions are surprisingly good! There's about 10 yards of wet-and-slow and 100 yards of wet-and-fast and everything else is just the normal Vermont singletrack experience with an extra bit of dankness on everything.

In other words, if you're hoping for a slopfest you'll be disappointed, but if you're looking to go fast and shred, we've got you covered.

Of all the race T shirts I've ever commissioned, the "Pile of Fighting Weasels" design from Alex Carlson is my favorite. I said "I dunno, maybe some weasels hitting each other with bike parts" and she took it from there!

This is your obligatory reminder that RACING MOUNTAIN BIKES on SWEET VERMONT SINGLETRACK is awesome and fun and a great way to kick off a long weekend -- so join us for Gnar Weasels #12 (yes, it's been that long) in Ascutney, Vermont this Saturday! The parking is free, the lunch is free, the descending is rad, and I dunno there's probably some climbing involved for people who like that kind of thing.

Greetings Bike Racers! Your favorite mountain bike race is back and better than ever! Registration for this year's race opens Tuesday at NOON and can be found here: https://www.bikereg.com/gnar-weasels. We are racing on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 in Ascutney, Vermont!

This year we are RESPONDING TO MARKET DEMANDS with some big and exciting event changes!

What's new for 2025?

> The event is now exclusively an e-bike race. If you only have an acoustic bike, you are allowed to race it, provided you ride with a camelback loaded with at least 100 AA batteries and lick them each time you finish a lap.
> There is a new SUPER CHALLENGING A-line which is a flat, grassy, doubletrack that goes past TWO signs that say "no e-bikes." You must make direct eye contact with the signs while coming up with a rationalization for why they don't apply to you.
> If you can't handle the A line, you can take the B line, which is a flat, grassy, doubletrack lined with bike industry executives cheering and thanking you for saving their companies with your e-bike purchase.
> Entry fees are now $160, since Gnar Weasels is twice as good as every other mountain bike race in New England, it should also cost twice as much.*
> For an extra $50 you can race a g-bike in an e-bike category. The g stands for "gasoline."

HAHAHA APRIL FOOLS. It's the same old mountain bike race with the same old value proposition:

1) Sick xc race on classic New England trails that are both challenging and fun
2) Free lunch for all racers because we hate making money
3) First 50 people to register get $10 off, so every second you don't register could be losing you money
4) We'll refund you any time before race day if you can't make it, because we feel bad that you can't come to the awesome mountain bike race
