The City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) offers high quality recreational opportunities to the citizens of the City of Brownsville. Beginning with the construction of Washington Park in 1919, the City of Brownsville continues to play an important role in the quality of life that Brownsville’s citizens and visitors enjoy. The department is staffed by over 110 full and part time personnel assigned to eight divisions: Parks Division, Recreation Division, Aquatics Division, Brownsville Sports Park, Brownsville Events Center, Brownsville Golf Center, Ringgold Civic Pavilion and the Historic City Cemetery. The department manages 30 parks encompassing over 1,000 acres of parkland, features 23 miles of hike/bike trails, 3 gymnasiums and pools, 50 buildings and structures, over 55 athletics fields, and the newly constructed Catherine Stillman Dog Park. Brownsville PARD has recently become one of the fastest growing Parks and Recreation Departments in the State of Texas and boasts several facilities that have received state recognition. With an increased amount of community volunteers and fund raising events, the department has been able to provide more community outreach. On any given day, city residents and visitors can watch or participate in soccer, baseball, football, softball, mountain biking, golf, volleyball, kickball, swimming.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this morning at Tres Ángeles Park for the official unveiling of our new Community Micro Cabinets! 💚📦

Special thanks to Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz and all our community leaders for attending and supporting this vital initiative.

As District Attorney Saenz shared today:

"The strength of our community is measured not only by how we respond during difficult times, but by how willing we are to look out for one another every day... When our community comes together with compassion and generosity, we remind one another that no one has to face hardship alone."

Tres Ángeles Park has long served as a place of remembrance, hope, and healing. Bringing this community-driven pantry model—"Take what you need, leave what you can"—to this space continues that spirit of care and shared support.

Swish! 🏀✨ The outdoor basketball courts at Brownsville Sports Park just got a fresh new look!

Special thanks to local agent Rick Armendariz and State Farm for bringing the Red Basketball Nets initiative to Brownsville and donating bright new red nets to our courts! Community support like this helps keep our local parks vibrant, welcoming, and ready for players of all ages.

Head out to the Brownsville Sports Park, shoot some hoops, and check out the new nets! 🔴🏀

Get ready for game day! 🏈 Registration for NFL Flag Coed Youth Football is officially open for children ages 5 to 12.

⭐Before securing your child's spot, please note that this specific registration is for players who are already on a team. If your child is not on a team yet, don't worry, you can sign them up as a Free Agent.

🔔Deadline: Registration closes on October 1, 2026.

🏈Divisions: 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U (Note: No 7th graders allowed).

Fees: $55 for residents and $60 for non-residents (includes team shirt and flags).

The season kicks off the week of October 26, 2026, featuring two games a week.

Want to get involved? We are actively welcoming volunteer coaches and referees to help guide these young athletes and make this season a touchdown!

🚨 NOTICE: Temporary Water Service Disruption 🚨

Please be advised that water service at the Old City Cemetery (955 E. 5th St.) is temporarily unavailable due to a water line issue.

The cemetery remains open for visitors, but please bring your own water if needed. Our crews are on-site conducting repairs, and service is expected to be fully restored by midday tomorrow, September 16, 2026.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete these repairs.

Community Youth in Action! 🎨⛳

A huge thank you to the amazing student volunteers who stepped up to support Brownsville Parks and Recreation!

From rolling up their sleeves at the Brownsville Golf Center to help paint boundary stakes for course playability, to bringing creative energy to decorate our Lunada float, these hard-working students are making a real difference across our facilities.

We love seeing our local youth take pride in their community!
