🏴‍☠️RAIDER NATION — WE’VE GOT A PLAYMAKER!

Each week during football season, KRGV Sports Channel 5 recognizes some of the Rio Grande Valley’s top high school football performers as part of its Playmaker of the Week segment.

This week, Rivera sophomore running back Juan Garza made the list!

Garza wasted no time making an impact in his first varsity regular-season game, carrying the ball just 8 times for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns in Rivera’s 26-20 Week 1 victory over crosstown rival Brownsville Lopez.

That’s an incredible 16.6 yards per carry in his varsity debut.

Now Garza and the 1-0 Raiders turn their attention to another Brownsville matchup as they travel to Brownsville Veterans Memorial Friday night.
