After Q4 at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals, Austin Prock sat down with FS1 ’s Amanda Busick and gave an honest look at what the Tasca Racing team has been building behind the scenes.

From building a new race shop, fab shop, and machine shop to continuing to learn and improve this race car combination, the work never stops for this team.

“That was the best run we’ve made since Gainesville,” Prock said. “It’s not the quickest, but that felt the best. That felt like the Prock Rocket should feel.”

The confidence and momentum continue building heading into Sunday eliminations at Route 66 Raceway.

After showing flashes of speed Friday, the Motorcraft and Quick Lane Racing Nitro Mustang Dark Horse Funny Car closed out qualifying Saturday with a statement run at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals.

The team battled through tire shake in Q1, a strong A to B 3.951 ET run at 329.50 MPH in Q2, adversity again in Q3 after dropping a cylinder at half track, and then unloading a big 3.920 ET at 331.94 MPH in the final session.

That run moved Austin Prock into the No. 3 qualifying position heading into Sunday's eliminations at Route 66 Raceway.

“That was a ripper right there,” said Prock. “That’s a good momentum booster going into Sunday. We’re ready for it.”

Prock will face Jeff Arend in round one on Sunday.

We spotted him outside the Tasca Racing pit waiting patiently for an Austin Prock autograph, and his Mountain Dew socks immediately caught our attention. Lucky for him, we happened to have an extra case of Dew nearby. Safe to say Austin handled both the autograph request and the Mountain Dew obsession at the same time.

Friday at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals ended with momentum for the Motorcraft and Quick Lane Racing Nitro Mustang Dark Horse Funny Car and Austin Prock .

After a strong Q1 pass showed flashes of speed before tire let loose at half-track, the team bounced back in Q2 with a clean 3.951 at 329.50 MPH to move into the Top 5 heading into Saturday qualifying.

“We finally got a good end to a Friday,” said Prock after the run. “I’m really proud of this team.”

The numbers continue trending in the right direction for Jimmy Prock and the Tasca Racing crew.
