I have so many mixed emotions right now in putting the word out on the bowling alley. I had decided to put Mark Lanes up for sale and had been in discussion with a realtor to start the sale process.
Monday morning I went over to check the building. Upon opening the door, there was an overwhelming odor of smoke and it seemed extremely dark. When I walked inside and started turning on lights, I discovered there had been a fire inside the building. What day it happened I do not know. The fire itself burned the approach area of lanes 5 and 6, the ball return, burned lanes 5 and 6 at the end of the approach, and down the gutter of lane 6, causing a lot of damage to those areas. Although the fire was contained to that area, there is a lot of smoke or soot covering the majority of the building. To me, it is a total loss but the insurance company may say otherwise.
The Fire Department came and looked it over, it looks like an electrical fire is probably what started the fire.
It is totally devastating to have something like this happen to anyone, be it a business or a home.
As soon as I can get things figured out, I will get the word out so all our bowlers can get their bowling balls, shoes, etc., out of their lockers.
