Shaye Molendyke is a 28 year air force veteran and creator of YogaFit for Warriors and Warrior Kids programs.

She shares what it was like to be a dual military family, her path through mental health training to yoga.

We talk about how we can support our military kids by providing them tools like breathing, movement, tapping, to help regulate their emotions.

We talk about the science behind yoga and these other types of methods like tapping and the direct effect on the body that can be measured!

Shaye shares some difficult situations she faced with her kids and how she used these techniques to help them recover.

Kelly Gardner is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist, Yoga Health Coach, and Certified Daring Way Facilitator. She specializes in trauma-focused yoga therapy in clinical settings and in private sessions as well as mindset and lifestyle coaching. She is certified to lead the 3-course curriculum created by Brené Brown and combines that work with the Ayurvedic lifestyle habits to create lasting change. Kelly lives in Memphis, TN with her husband and 2 dogs.

I completed my 100 hour Warrior program which is the Trauma Informed yoga program offered by yoga fit and I am 1 class away from my 140 hour program. GREAT new research on effectiveness of trauma-informed yoga for female veterans with PTSD!

“To the authors' knowledge, this is the first RCT comparing yoga with CPT, the latter being a trauma-focused psychotherapy and gold standard treatment, as interventions for PTSD. The results suggest that TCTSY was no better or worse than the current gold standard and, therefore, may be a viable and acceptable alternative for PTSD treatment, especially for women veterans with MST and complex trauma-related PTSD. This potential has great relevance to clinical and policy decisions, because yoga is much less costly, easier to deliver, and more feasible for veterans to access, and is scalable. “
