Dancewave Dancewave provides access to a community dance experience that encourages individuality and whole-person development throughout New York City and beyond.

Through innovative programming, we use dance as an expressive vehicle for transformation. Dancewave is the dance education nonprofit that focuses on the development of the whole person through a dance experience accessible to all. Our unique model combines rigorous training with artistic integrity, and access for all, in a supportive environment. Students are mentored by accomplished dance profess

ionals, which allows for personal growth as well as superior dance education. Dancers have the opportunity to join our pre-professional dance companies, where they gain technical proficiency and self-confidence through training, rehearsals, and performances.

A WORD FROM WHITNEY

Whitney McIntosh-Joseph is honored to step into the role of Executive Director at Dancewave, an organization she has long admired for its deep commitment to equity, access, and artistic excellence. A lifelong dancer and arts advocate, Whitney has spent her career working across Downtown Brooklyn, East New York and Brownsville communities, ensuring that young people have access to high-quality arts education. Early in her career, Whitney enrolled 2 of her own students at Dancewave to expand their training and exposure, an experience that deepened her belief that every young person deserves the chance to grow through movement. Whitney is committed to expanding Dancewave’s reach, strengthening community partnerships, and elevating dance as a powerful tool for self-expression, connection and opportunity across New York City.
