Let's Go Haiti

Let's Go Haiti The Let's Go Haiti Marathon is the premier marathon in Haiti. It is a movement designed to encourage the healthy lifestyle in Haiti Our aim:

1.

We are now open for registration and looking to have at least 1,000 participants for our 3rd annual race, scheduled for January 4, 2015. Estimated cost for the LGH Marathon is roughly $200,000 USD. Whatever we're able to raise beyond that amount, will go towards the TRACK FUND for building our first state of the art track and field facility in Haiti. LGH's short term goal is to foster "Track & Field" in the majority of the school curriculums in Haiti. Our long term goal is to build...track facilities around the 10 departments of Haiti, in an effort to create equal opportunities for Haitian athletes. Once built, the facilities will be available for schools throughout the country to train, prepare and recruit future track and field athletes to represent Haiti in international competitions. Estimated cost for the first NEW TRACK FACILITY will be $1,300,000 USD and an extra $1.2 for operating cost. Please, join LGH Marathon and the RACE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW campaign if you are interested in supporting this capital project. Contact the TRACK FUND at [email protected] - Please, include TRACK FUND in the subject line. Let's Go Haiti (LGH) is committed to promoting the sport of running in Haiti. Present and highlight another side of the Haitian people, (we intend
to celebrate their tenacity and will to persevere)
2. Empower and inspire the youth of Haiti through sport, we all know
what physical accomplishment can do for self-esteem in our youth.
3. Using the proceeds of the marathon for works of good deeds and
and to construct new sport facilities around the country. General Information

it is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the 6th Annual LET'S GO HAITI MARATHON & HALF. We want to sincerely say sorry to those who signed up to run and won't have the opportunity to do so in 2018. The race has been cancelled due to travel warning issued by several government sites in particular the US and Canada which has greatly affected participation. On top of all that, the universe has also thrown a lot of disasters on the island over the years. But, our eyes still remain on the prize and our feet are still chasing the dream of seeing “Haiti Rise”. We are positively looking ahead for 2019. We truly appreciate and thank you all for your continued support.

As we are approaching our 6th year anniversary, we would like to acknowledge 3 great individuals.

- Praz Michel, Founder of the famous Grammy Awards winning band "The Fugees"

- Gilbert Hippolyte and Randal Toussaint, Founders of Panexus S.A.

These three great individuals are visionaries and deserve to be praised for their support of the "Let's Go Haiti Marathon".

As we continue to struggle to bring this spectacular annual event to the island of Haiti, we can't help but wonder why more people can't see what the future of Haiti and its youth could be like if we all put together to make this event a part of Haiti's economic sector.

Most countries with marathons, benefit economically from those events. But, yet Haiti seems to struggle. LET'S GO HAITI MARATHON exists for the betterment of Haiti.

Here is what's been keeping us going and bringing this annual event to Haiti for the past 5 years.

We ask ourselves the following question.

Would we keep doing this event if money didn't exist?

And our answer is YES.

- Yes because it showcases Haiti in a positive light.
- Yes because it makes us proud to be one of the countries in the world to run a marathon.
- Yes because it gives our youth a platform to perform and become healthy and better human beings.
- Yes because it gives us hope of erasing some of the worst Olympic records previously set by Haitian athletes.
- Yes because as a whole we have a lot to gain as a country.

We exist to bring you the real Haiti. There is more to Haiti than what's being said and shown on the news which is not exactly inviting. Haiti earns only 10% of its income from tourism. Most of the other Caribbean countries earn 90% of their income from tourism and related industries. Come run with us in Haiti to help boost the country’s economy and empower the people.
