There’s nothing quite like the good jitters the night before a match.

Shooter or Match Director, that anticipation used to bother me. These days, I’ve grown to love it. It means something matters.

Yesterday, the IDPA crew stepped it up. Five unique stages, the prop cars back out, and a team showing exactly the kind of commitment that takes a program to the next level.

Great work to Clint, Mick, Floyd, and the entire team of people who made it happen. We know great things are happening, and there’s plenty more to come.

Today, it’s USPSA at BSC.

We’ve got eight stages brought to you by people who are running—or have previously run—some of the best matches our area has to offer. Every Match Director from BSC’s past decade was out there building, contributing, and making this thing better.

I’m proud to direct that effort.

But honestly, that pride goes beyond putting on a good match. There is something pretty special about getting to do great things with great people, for great reasons. I don’t take that for granted.

September brings better temperatures, and a match whose coolness has nothing to do with the weather.

Today we get to help promote the Dawson-Ark Benefit Match, something I’m particularly excited to be part of. Animals and their care have always been important to me, and getting to help Skyler and Brian give back to the people at The Ark is an honor.

We’ve also borrowed the stage Heidi and I worked at Race Gun Nationals. It was too good not to repurpose. Thanks to Scott Beebe and Matt Hopkins for the foundation of a great design.

And yes, there’s a new prop joining us for this match.

We’ve introduced something new every time out in 2026. That’s part of our commitment to giving shooters the best experience we can. We’ll keep improving, keep building, and keep finding ways to make our matches better.

And, of course, we should probably remind everyone that we ordered AMG Commanders.

2027 will see the blue bricks officially relegated to backup status.

October brings our annual All-Classifier Match on Sunday, October 4th.

That same weekend, Oak Hill Gun Club will host the 2026 ICORE Postal Match on Sunday the 4th, while Brooklyn Sportsman’s Club will host it Saturday the 3rd. It’s an opportunity for clubs across the country to build and shoot four stages together—to participate in something bigger than any one range.

It’s also an opportunity for us to show some solidarity and send our best wishes to ICORE President Alex Bakken.

Alex is on the path toward rejoining us on the range after a scary health emergency. While the Postal Match is revolver-centric, all pistols can participate.

If you know and love Alex, and appreciate everything he has contributed to our sport, please consider making it to one of these matches—even if it means missing the All-Classifier Match.

I can’t think of a better way to show him that this community is behind him than for him to hear that both clubs had record turnouts.

If you made it this far, thank you.

There is so much to be excited about.

We are grateful for every opportunity to be a part of this community, and I honestly can’t imagine a better way to spend this holiday weekend than honoring great friends and bringing our shooting community another match built by some of the biggest hearts and soundest minds you’ll find in this sport.

As we recognize Labor Day and the people whose work makes all of this possible, please remember to thank the people who built these stages, ran the timer, reset the targets, painted steel, hauled props, kept score, and made the whole thing happen.

The match is what everyone sees.

The people behind it are what make it possible.

Happy Labor Day, everyone.
