Brooklyn Royals Dance Team Official Dance Team of the Brooklyn Kings Rugby League

Supporters of the Brooklyn Kings Rugby League since their first season in 2014, the Royals is made up of talented dancers from the tri-state area. Our next rookie is no stranger to the NYC Dance scene, excited to see what’s in store for !

Angela Weigel graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in May 2019. There, Angela received the Friends of Dance Research Award for her senior thesis research and presented her research findings in the "5 College Dance Symposium". Currently Angela resides in Brooklyn, NY where she is a part of Teach for America as a preschool teacher for Brooklyn Kindergarten Society. She is set to receive her masters degree in teaching from Relay Graduate school of Education in June 2021 and she is an active dancer and member of Variety Pack Collective, Dance Works NYC, and Continuum Dance co. Most recently she choreographed and performed a solo featured in the DanceWorks virtual show in February 2021, performed in Fertile Ground Dance Festival in May 2021 with Variety Pack Dance Collective, and was featured in three dance films to be premiered in July 2021 with Continuum Dance Co. Angela plans to continue dancing in companies across New York and expand her love for performing, creating and teaching dance.

The announced this week that it will now launch in the Spring of 2022. An original launch date for the league of June 2021 was scheduled, however several factors have resulted in this proposed launch being delayed.

We are saddened by this news and had been looking forward to dancing for the this summer. We look forward to coming back in 2022 stronger than ever.

The talent of this years team is astounding and we are so proud of the women who auditioned and made our team. Despite this postponement, we’d like to continue to introduce our dancers and hope to see them all on the field in due time. Many thanks to our supporters, sponsors, and fans - we’ll be back!

Excited to introduce our first rookie, !

Gabby grew up in Brooklyn but now lives in Queens, New York. She has been performing various styles of dance since the age of two. She attended Adelphi University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She was a 4-year member of the Adelphi University Dance Team and has also danced for the National Lacrosse League. She now works as a Campaign Manager for an Ad Tech company in NYC. She is beyond excited to be returning to Brooklyn and joining the Brooklyn Royals this season!

Rounding out our returning Vets is showstopper back for her 2nd Season!

Amber is a Manhattan-based dancer and performer. Her favorite styles of dance are heels, jazz, and musical theatre. She attended the University of North Alabama where she danced on the Lionette Danceline and earned her fashion and business degree. She also works as a freelance wardrobe stylist and loves fashion! She continues to perform in shows and events throughout NYC and the tri-state area, and she also owns a cabaret dance company!

Another warm welcome back to 2nd year Vet !

Rhea is originally from Long Island and is returning for her 2nd Season, after dancing with the Royals in 2018. She is a Healthcare Worker and loves Italian food, theme parks, and pets (like her kitty Kogi!). Rhea has danced for several dance teams in the tri-state area and has traveled abroad to China as a dancer for the Chinahoops International Basketball Tournament. Rhea’s favorite motivational quote is: ‘’Never trust your fears, they don’t know your strength.’’ -Unknown

We are ecstatic to welcome back for her 4th Season with the Brooklyn Royals!

Desi is a returning Brooklyn Royals vet from Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Princeton University, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. When she’s not dancing with the Royals, you can catch her singing with her a ca****la group or serving looks as a brand ambassador for Rent the Runway!
