HISTORY of Dance Parade:
This started as a protest against the Cabaret Laws in NYC. Cabaret Laws is a license businesses need to pay for and have to allow more than 3 people to dance in your venue, started in the 1920's. This was a raciest law to use as an excuse to close Black American parties in Harlem, this law did not change until 2017. Dance Parade started 2006 as a protest dancing outside to point out how ridiculous this law was. Today this has become a true celebration of dance in NYC. So many cultures from around the world show their tradition attire and movements, so many communities show theirs, so so many groups truly come to dance. But the first dance Cabaret Laws were trying to stop... was Lindy Hop. So let's KEEP IT GOING!
