The Prescod Institute for Sport, Teamwork, and Education The Prescod Institute for Sport, Teamwork, and Education is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded by Olympic fencer & Brooklyn native, Nzingha Prescod.

We are building the next generation of leaders through the sport of fencing. We provide fencing instruction, learning & educational opportunities, character building & leadership experiences to underserved youth of NYC at no-cost to families.

We wrapped up our SEVENTH summer of fencing programming last week with scrimmages at Fencing for Brooklyn! Congratulations to all the age groups for a summer of fun and hard work! Great work for our medalists🏅We are excited to welcome a new cohort of 25-30 new students to the academy this fall.

THANK YOU to our team of organizers, and all of our volunteers, coaches and parents who are so committed to making this possible each week. 🙌🏾❤️ We’re so appreciate our support ecosystem for their time, funding and connections to sustain our work. We are still so proud and grateful to be able to provide low to no cost fencing and educational programming to Brooklyn and across NYC! More to come 💪🏾⭐️🤺

It was an absolute pleasure to have founder of Brown Babies n’ Books, Dessa Carroll, join us for Community Day at Fencing for Brooklyn! We were able to read “The Boldest White” by Ibtihaj Muhammad and learn an important story about being brave in unlikely settings. Much appreciation to Dessa and her team at Brown Babies n’ Books for coming by to share their mission of creating childhood literacy spaces where Black and Brown faces feel seen, with our families! 🤺📚

Another incredible weekend of Fencing for Brooklyn is in the books as we celebrated Olympic Day! 🎖️

We were honored to welcome 3-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist Keeth Smart, who shared his inspiring journey from Brooklyn to the Olympic podium with our young athletes. A special thank you as well to our dear friend and Olympian Nicole Ross for joining us and making the day even more memorable.

Our athletes left inspired, motivated, and reminded that big dreams can start right here in Brooklyn. Looking forward to the remaining sessions this summer! 🤺🙌🏾
