Our fund-raising campaign is complete and you rocked it! We raised $8,856 - well over our initial goal, and enough to acquire 118 tons of top-quality sand. Thank you so much! A special thank you to Belletetes Hardware and Powell Stone & Gravel, who made very generous donations!

We are making plans for the delivery of the 118 tons of sand you generously funded. We have a few additional needs:

1) unneeded plywood in any condition to protect the ground from 30-35-ton truck deliveries

2) people with vehicles who can pick up the donated plywood and bring it to the park, and to the transfer station or back to the donors afterwards

3) some 2x6x10s and 2x4x10s or similar to build a ramp for the trucks to get over the plastic barrier.

4) a bit of labor to distribute the plywood and collect it afterwards.

Announcing our new Adult Newbie Volleyball Training! No need to worry about looking foolish - everyone will be a novice! Targeted for people who would like to learn the proper basic techniques for playing 6-6 volleyball and get an opportunity to use it during each session.

The 90-minute training will run on four consecutive Monday's from 6:30 to 8, starting Monday, July 14th. The cost is $60/player for the set of four sessions. It will consist of training combined with play. Coaching will be provided by a combination of Len and Rachel Sheppard.

The techniques taught are equally applicable to indoor and sand volleyball and will include under and overhand serving, passing (called "bumping", back in the day), setting, attacking (called "spiking" back in the day), defense and rules.

This is a great stepping stone to the 6-on-6 My Social Sport Adult League

A SPECIAL NOTICE...

It's time to replenish the sand at the volleyball courts in Brookline! When we built the courts twelve years ago, no one could have anticipated the amazing usage they have seen. Since 2013, we have had:

• 1,563 volleyball sessions
• 39,000 player visits
• 112,000 player-hours of volleyball
• plus, all the unscheduled drop-ins

Were you aware that 100% of the cost of building and maintaining the courts is funded by contributions from users and supporters such as yourself? Fantastic weather and play during day 1 of the Girls Ladders! All told, we have 78 players on 39 teams representing 23 towns and 12 different indoor clubs.
