Season ending post, take two!
Tried posting before, but FB apparently must have thought that the original post was too sappy. Skipper, sappy? Never!
It was a trying season with many ups and downs, and while we didn't quite get the results we felt we should have had, it was still a fun time nevertheless.
Onto the less exciting news.
As many of you know, our lead, Charles, has moved down to the Kitchener area. While driving five plus hours is a regular thing for him, it does mark the end of regularly curling on Team Lawton. On a personal note, this is a very big loss for me, as Charles has been a mainstay for many seasons. A great teammate, and even better man, I'll definitely miss his hand in managing the team, putting up with my rants, being a sound board. Not to mention as a friend living close by, always being there, lending a hand, no matter how crazy an idea or volunteer job I suck myself into. It won't be the same without you here, Brother.
As for the rest of us, well, we're getting older. Family, work, aches and pains... are all taking a toll. It's a lot of sacrifice to do this, and I'm happy it was with these guys this season. We will be going our separate ways, knowing the door is never closed for another opportunity to get on the ice together and share good drink, cooking, and more laughs. Oh, and karaoke.
While we didn't have any sponsors this season because we did this all last minute, it goes without saying we love our boys over at Le Bienheureux - check them out! Expansion serves them well! You've always treated us great, and can't wait to eat/drink with you soon!
And a big thank you to our fans, friends, and family. Without you, we couldn't do what we love doing without your support.
As for next season, the opportunities are endless. Doors are open and listening for team offers next season.
Have a happy spring, safe summer. Drink well and eat merry. Next season is around the corner!
Stay tuned.
Love,
Skipper
