On June 8th, 2021 the residents of Brookland will have the opportunity to vote to extend the current sales tax, which will allow the City to build a new sports complex, municipal building, and create sewer upgrades along Hwy 49.

Update: two smaller parks are getting closer to being finished. The rubber surface has been completed on the park that will be located on Bernis and Smith Street. Rubber surface for Nelms and Matthews should be completed today. The remaining dirt work, walkways and parking should be completed in the next few weeks weather permitting.

The mayor will give an update on the Sports Complex tonight at 7:00 during the City Council Meeting. All are welcome to attend.

UPDATE: Finally seeing progress on the two smaller parks. Playground equipment has been installed. As long as the weather cooperates, the goal is to have both parks finished by end of July or early August.

Update: The playground equipment has arrived for the smaller parks! Once the groundwork and parking is completed, equipment will be installed. One step closer folks.

Update:

SMALL PARKS:
The two smaller parks will resume work as soon as the ground dries and weather improves. Playground equipment has been ordered and will take approximately 5 months to arrive. We hope to have the two smaller parks completed and opened by August.

COMPLEX:
Work on the complex will resume as soon as the ground dries and weather improves. With the continued increase in equipment and costs, we will be forced to complete the complex in stages. Dirt work has been completed. Work will begin on the concession building, two smaller baseball fields (designated for little league) and one large baseball field with funds remaining.

Once the city has exhausted all bond money, we will begin to seek sponsorships and available grants to complete the project.
